Rodney Page Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 6, 2024.
Rod Page passed away peacefully in Grass Valley on July 23, 2024 just 2 days shy of his 99th birthday. Rod was born on July 25, 1925 in San Francisco. He is preceded in death by his wife Kathleen McInerney Page; his parents, Dorothea and Philip Page; his brother, Philip E Page and his grandson, Robbie Calhan. He is survived by his four daughters Michelle (Mike) Cristofani, Mary (George) Hartmann, Therese (Gary) Freitas and Kathleen (Peter) Balestreri. Rod was cherished by his 10 loving grandchildren & their spouses and 20 great grandchildren. A proud native of the SF Excelsior District, he attended Guadalupe and Monroe grammar schools and Balboa High School. At 17 he enlisted in the US Navy and proudly served his country in WWII as a Radioman Second Class on various ships in the Pacific. On August 14, 1948, he married the love of his life, Kathleen (Kay) McInerney and they spent the next 52 years together until her death in 2000. In 1956 they moved to the Westlake District of Daly City where they served as founding members of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church. Rod became a successful architect after the war and worked on many major structures in the Bay Area, including The McCormick Schilling building in the South Bay and Sony in SSF (Crocker Industrial Park). But his greatest success was giving love, advice and counsel to his ever expanding family. He was an amazing dad, father-in-law and "Bompa" introducing his sons-in-law and grandchildren to his favorite weekly pastime - golf. He and Kay took their daughters and families on many happy vacations and excursions - Hawaii, Arizona, Mexico, Ireland and cruises to Alaska. In 1988 they moved to Grass Valley where retirement life was good to them. A life-long Giants fan, and a sober member of Alcoholics Anonymous for more than 52 years, Rod lived a happy and healthy life, made lasting friendships and was always there for his family and friends with a dose of humor sprinkled in - he will be dearly missed by all. A private celebration of his life will be held in the Fall for the family. Donations in his memory may be made to Tunnel to Towers - T2T.org or your local chapter of Alcoholics Anonymous.
