Roger Baker

Roger Dean Baker, 75, of Weyerhaeuser, Wis., formerly of Southern Minnesota, died on Thursday, Dec. 22, 2016, at Mayo Clinic Health System Northland in Barron, Wis., due to cancer of 3.5 years.

Roger was born in St. Charles on Jan. 19, 1941. He was the son of Floyd Jr. and Eunice Fabian Baker.

Roger married Marilyn Evelyn Hisey, of Chatfield, on Nov. 5, 1960. He had lived in Southern Minnesota for 68 years before moving to Weyerhaeuser, Wis., in 2009.

Roger farmed many years in Minnesota and was an over-the-road truck driver for 40 years. He took pleasure in fishing, camping and had a love for working with his model train display. Roger was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Ladysmith, Wis.

Roger is survived by his wife, Marilyn; two sons, Shawn (Julie), of Chatfield, and Steve (Pam), of Plainview; six daughters, Juanita (Scott) Vehrenkamp, of Conrath, Wis., Rebecca Lehrentz, of Weyerhaeuser, Wis., Teresa, of Lanesboro, Sheila (Helson) Emmanuelli, of Rochester, Christina Conway, of Farmington, Minn., and Deanna (Jeff) Fuller, of Bruce, Wis.; 24 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and his brother, Jim (Earlene) Bartsh, of Plainview.

A private family service was held on Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2016, at St. John's Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Craig Zandi officiating.

A Celebration of Life will be held for all friends and family from noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 15, at the American Legion in Plainview, Minn.
