Roger James Bulger

Roger led every organization he touched and with good reason....unique intelligence with good judgement and a soft but confident ego. He traveled to Wisconsin for Jacki´s and my wedding and the rest of our lives were on parallel tracks. We are sad and stunned by the inevitable and send our love to Ruth.

I can't remember Roger without smiling!! He was a visionary, a mentor, a deep-listener, a networker (I can't begin to recount the number of people he introduced me to!!) a go-getter and wonderfully devoted to his family.

In his terms on the board of Research!America he helped us see paths forward that we hadn't previously considered, and he helped get us there-- together. It was always about partnership and friendship with Roger.

Few people I have been privileged to know can write as well and as convincingly as Roger. He's a role model I keep close in that and in so many ways. He will be greatly missed, but never forgotten.

I extend my deepest condolences to Ruth, Faith and Grace, and those lovely granchildren, and everyone else he touched.

I served as Vice Chancellor for A&F at UMass Medical Center, and Roger was my Boss. He was a role model for me then, and throughout my career. I, and many others, mourn his passing.

I just learned of Dr. Bulger's passing. I met him in Houston in 1981 when he was president of the Health Science Center. He and Ruth were two of the most delightful people I knew. A great physician, academician, husband, and father to Grace and Faith. He was kind, had a wonderful sense of humor, and unparalleled generosity. Rest in peace Roger, you touched so many lives.
