Roger Denzler Obituary

Denzler Roger Denzler Sr., 86, of Atkins died Monday, Aug. 31, 2009, at the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center following a courageous battle with cancer. He was a son of the late Wyatt and Julia Buck Denzler. He was a self-employed contractor and a member of the VFW. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII as a seaman first class on the USS Card Aircraft Carrier. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Wyatt and Everett Denzler, and one sister, Yvonne Barker. Survivors include three sons and one daughter-in-law, Roger Denzler Jr. of Johnson City, Tenn., James Denzler of Kingsport, Tenn., and Randy and Anita Denzler of Erwin, Tenn.; two daughters, Deborah Denzler of Johnson City, Tenn., and Pamela D. Quisling and husband Richard W. Quisling, M.D., of Nashville, Tenn.; three grandchildren, Christa Ramsey and husband John and Jessica Denzler, all of Elizabethton, Tenn., and Susannah Quisling Longmuir, M.D., and husband Reid Longmuir, M.D., of Iowa; seven great-grandchildren; former wife and special friend, Helen Denzler Williams of Johnson City, Tenn.; his first wife and old friend, Gail B. Denzler; special family members, Mike and Carol Musser and Mick and Ed Musser, all of Rural Retreat; and several nieces and nephews. Private disposition will be held at a later date. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to the American Cancer Society, c/o Lou Cooter, 415 Washington Ave., Elizabethton, TN 37643.
