Marisa,
I am so sorry!!!! I was just looking online to see what was new w Roger and saw this obituary.
As you know, Pierre and I adored you both so much, living in your flat, discussing immunoassays, spending time in the New Forest and seeing you in the States!
I haven't yet spoken w Pierre but will let him know. My huge sympathies.
Roger was one in a million and you two were a one in a million team. He gave a lot to the world.
I will try also to find your email but it's been at least 6 years since we connected I think.
Sending my sympathies and admiration

I worked for Roger way back in 1963 in the Barnato Joel laboratories at the Middlesex Hospital. He was an inspiring teacher and re-fuelled my ambitions. Always kind, good fun and thoughtful and still one of the most intelligent people I have ever known. A true genius.

It is almost thirty years since I worked in Dept. Molecular Endocrinology. I was there for only about a year or so but Prof Ekins left a lasting impression. Such an enthusiastic and dedicated scientist who did not suffer fools or their sychophants gladly. I am sad at hearing of his passing but there is also a warm smile when I remember his ways and those times.

Roger was a great teacher, an intellectual pioneer in immunoassay-discovering how man could measure nanoquantities, and creating the multianalyte microarray concept whhich illuminates not only endocrinology but also personalised medicine and gene therapy.
He truly merited the Nobel Prize
His laboratorye was bubbling over with intellectual ferment!
He was an affectionate mentor and I was priveleged to welcome him to Agra many a time and last to visit him and Marissa last year. Our debt to Roger and Marissa for their affectionate hospitality will ever remain.May the Almighty Radhasoami Dayal bestow His blessings on Roger and us all

So, so sorry because I remember Roger as such an interesting man and brilliant researcher at The Middlesex Medical School when I worked with Prof. Tait in the 70's. My love to you Marisa. Sarah Cheetham (was Aston in those days)
