Roger Gaudet

Gaudet Roger Joseph passed away peacefully on December 20th at the age of 80 after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his family. Roger was born in St. Isidore de Bellevue on March 6th, 1930 to Jean and Germaine (Bachand) Gaudet. He married Rolande (Gaudet) on October 18th, 1951 and raised 6 children. At an early age, Roger demonstrated an aptitude for mechanics and opened Bellevue Garage with the help of his father and later on with his brother Gilles. He later continued this business with his three sons. His greatest love was his family. He enjoyed many family fishing trips, playing cards with family and friends as well as curling in the winter and golf in the summer. Roger was also an active member in the development and growth of his community. He leaves to mourn his passing: his spouse of 59 years, Rolande; his children, Francois, Bellevue; Constant, St. Louis, (James, Joel and their mother Norine); Jean (Laurel), Bellevue (Adele, Camille, D.J.); Claire (Lyle) Bassingthwaite, Warman (Tiffiny, Jordin, Stefanie); Lucie (Randy) Altman, Saskatoon (Jared, Sean); and Michelle, Saskatoon. He is also survived by his brothers, Gilles (Lucille) and Sylvain (Charlene); his sisters, Lydia Gaudet, Roseline Deault and Nicole (Don) Brooks; his brothers-in-law, Gilles (Monique) Tremblay, Rev. Ghislain Gaudet and Edouard Deault; his sisters-in-law Helene Gaudet, Therese Gaudet, Yvette Gaudet, Sylvianne Gaudet and Camilla Gaudet. He was predeceased by: an infant grandson, Lorne; his parents, Jean in 1969 and Germaine in 2005, his step-father Edmond Betemps; his parents-in-law, Hector and Armandine Gaudet; his sister Annette; his brothers Ronald (Alice) and Fernand; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jean-Camil Gaudet, Jean Deault, Elaine Gaudet, Marie-Ange (Pierre Gareau, Adrien Hamel), Anida Deault, Henri Gaudet, Andreas Gaudet, Noella (Alphonse) Jobin, Alain Gaudet, Ovide (Laurianne) Gaudet, Emile Gaudet and Alcide Gaudet. Prayer Vigil will be held on Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at 7:30 p.m. and the Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, December 23, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. Both Services will be held in St. Isidore de Bellevue Roman Catholic Church. Interment will follow at St. Isidore de Bellevue Roman Catholic Cemetery. Donations in memory of Roger may be made to the Foyer Jesus-Marie Care Home in Bellevue.
