Roger Goodman Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jun. 20 to Jun. 21, 2016.
Roger Don Goodman, Sr., 65,  of Blackfoot, passed away Friday, June 17, 2016 at Bingham Memorial Hospital.
Roger was born June 11, 1951 in Sheridan, Wyoming. He lived there, close to his grandparents, other family and friends, with his father, Robert Goodman, and brother Robert Jr. until they moved to Idaho.
He attended school in Idaho Falls until graduation from Idaho Falls High School in June 1969. He then attended the University of Idaho in Moscow to get his teaching degree, until he decided he needed to follow a different path. He came back to Idaho Falls and attended ISU in Pocatello and acquired his certification in law enforcement.
After his graduation, he took a job in Kamiah, Idaho. There he met the love of his life, Sue. They were married six months later and have had a very wonderful marriage.
They have enjoyed the last 41 years together as lovers, parents, and grandparents. They were blessed with three children, Jennifer, Jaymee, and finally after a nine-year gap, they were blessed with Roger Jr. He is a born-again believer in the Lord and enjoyed working in the church.
He worked for Blackfoot Police Department as a seargent in Patrol, until he switched to being a resource officer at Independence Alternative High School. This portion of his career was so very special; he met numerous young adults that changed his life, for the better. He retired after 38 years in police work and tried to just take it easy.
After about two weeks, he couldn't stand not working so he found a part time job as a bailiff at Bingham County Courthouse and has enjoyed that for several years. Roger was an avid hunter, fisherman, and he loved riding his four wheeler, camping, and just spending time with his family and his best buddy his dog Spook. He shall be dearly missed.
Surviving Roger are his wife, Sue; daughters, Jennifer (Josh) Oebel in Waxahachie, Texas; Jaymee (Justin), Boise; son, Roger Jr (Jen) Blackfoot; brother, Robert (Karen); mother, Victoria Goodman and Jim. He has also been blessed with grandchildren - Alexis, Brett, Isaac and Cort and several nieces and nephews and numerous other family members who love him so much.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 23 at Hawker Funeral Home. The family will meet with friends and relatives from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 22 and again for one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent to the family at: www.hawkerfuneralhome.com.
