I was shocked to receive word of Roger's passing. We spent many hours studying and playing golf during our time at East Texas State University. Although our homes were thousands of miles apart, we maintained contact with each other by phone and email. Thank goodness for those communication devices. I'm not much of a letter writer! I was fortunate enough to have him visit me in Hawaii. He was planning another trip to Hawaii in the near future. I was fortunate to have him as a classmate, colleague and friend. I only wish we could have spent more time together. To Marilyn, Darren and Kari, my deepest condolences.

I went to Seth Ward grade school with Roger, so I knew him most of our lives. He was always a kind person and true gentleman. May he rest in peace.

I just want to send my condolences to the family and friends. Dr. Grant was the coach my freshman year at Sul Ross but he was a lot more than a "coach" to me and countless others well after he retired from the profession. He and Marilyn always welcomed me into their home for holidays since I was a ways away from home and treated me like a son. I am forever grateful and lucky to have shared most of my life knowing you'll. Rest Peacefully, Coach Grant, you are loved and missed.
