Roger James Hurst, age 79 of Nixa, died September 17, 2023. He was born February 7, 1944 in Des Plains, Illinois, the son of Thurston and Lorraine (Voltz) Hurst. Roger served his country in the U. S. Navy. Roger proudly served two tours over eight years in which he was an integral part of the SeaBees and fought in the Vietnam War. After his military service he worked as a stationary engineer in HVAC. He enjoyed riding horses, fishing, and motorcycling. Survivors include: his wife Gail Hurst of Nixa; his children, Linda Hughes and husband Tom of New York and Randy Hurst and wife Laura of Illinois; his grandchildren, Tyler Hughes and wife Jenna, and Lauren Nantista and husband Ryan, Amanda Cesaroni and husband Brad and Martin Hurst; his great grandchildren, Caleb, Maxwell, Walter and Ava; and his siblings, Lori, Gary and Pam. Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Thurston and Lorraine Hurst; his sister, Darlene; and his previous wife of 45 years, Evelyn Hurst. Cremation rites will be accorded by Adams Crematory and arrangements are under direction of Adams Funeral Home, Nixa.
