The Joing Family;
I am sorry to hear of the passing of Roger.
It has been years since I have seen him but when I bowled in a league with him at Luxury Lanes it was always a fun evening.
My thoughts and prayers go out to you at this time.

Roger was never my supervisor but I enjoyed his sense of humor and view of the world. He used to walk over and join us for lunch. I don't think I ever heard one the social workers speak ill of him. He understood the clients and those who worked for him and what was most important in the work(not the paperwork, certainly). I was also pleased one day to have the opportunity to have one of your sons take care of my mom at Fairview. It is true, "children are the message you send into the future." Blessings to you all on this very difficult day.

Roger was a great person. I worked for and then with him at the county. We respected him and his commitment to the safety and well being of our clients through thick and thin. He was consistently client focused and I saw him as a great leader and mentor. Thinking of you all. Ed Holt

Dear Joing Family,
Roger was my supervisor in Hennepin County Child Protection for many years. In a time that it was difficult to recruit social workers into Child Protection, some agreed to transfer into the job only on the condition that they could work for Roger. He knew what was important and wouldn't stand for anything less than excellence when it came to the needs of families. But he also had no time for useless administrative requirements that would take away from that work--and he didn't hesitate to let that be known. I've had a lot of bosses in my social work career but none I respected more.

Dear Joing Family,
I knew Roger as a supervisor at Hennepin County Child Protection although he never was my supervisor. I think he was the most respected supervior by his workers. I loved his sense of humor. He certainly knew what was most important about the job and brought stability to, by nature, an unstable job. He simply was a great guy.

Dear Joing Family:
I did not know Roger well but had the pleasure of playing golf with him last year in the Hennepin County Court League. From that short exposure, I did experience that "wicked" sense of humor. My thoughts are with you in your time of loss.

Dear Joing Family,

Our hearts go out to you during this time of loss.

Roger was a Man's Man, yet a very gentle man too. He was David's supervisor at Hennepin County Child Protection during the still birth of our first son 30 years ago. We are forever grateful for his strength, support and guidance especially at that time. His influence was a great blessing to us and we know to many others as well.

Oh, David could tell some funny stories as well but we would imagine you have many of your own to recall. Somehow, tears and laughter mix at a time like this.

Peace to you-
David and Sherokee Ilse

I am saddened by this loss. I knew Roger as a social work supervisor at Hennepin County.
A centered, kind and thoughtful man; very supportive of a new worker just starting out.
