“May flights of angels sing thee to thy rest”
Roger was a dear friend of mine at Clemson “back in the day”. I remember him as full of life, smart, hard working and always ready for an adventure. I will
fondly remember our epic Spades marathons, his acute DJ skills, his huge collection of beach music and a particularly legendary, and frigid, Peach Bowl road trip. I am deeply saddened by his passing and offer my deepest sympathies and condolences to his dear wife and family.
Eternal rest grant unto him O Lord. And let perpetual light shine upon him

Roger was a dear friend from Sumter with whom I enjoyed many good times socially and on the football field.
During his senior year, Roger suffered a severe broken arm in the first half of the state championship game and I was called in to take his cornerback spot for the second half. Our team ended up losing a closely contested game. I held my own, but many of us wondered through the years, "what if Roger had been able to play that second half?" He was a hard-hitting, extremely fast, and powerful defensive player. His incredible work ethic and his positive attitude (hiding behind that tough, seemingly disinterested disposition) were key parts of the success of that team. Roger turned up a year later as my next door dorm neighbor at Clemson and I continued to admire his tenacity for life and we enjoyed many great moments together during the 1980 academic year.
I am so sorry to hear of his untimely passing, and wish for God's peace to Ruthie and his extended family.

When I first met Roger, I thought he was rough, gruff, a "bull in a china shop". I soon found out that under that facade, he was also kind, feeling and very smart. Above all, he was a great friend. I will miss him dearly.

Roger was one of the smartest men I have worked with at Tindall Corporation and while he could try one's patience at times I always knew he had the best interest of the company, it's reputation and it's employees at heart. I learned a great deal from him and will miss him, especially those occasions when I had the opportunity to spend time with him outside of work. I did not know him at Clemson but we share the same Tiger Alumni pride. This was never more evident than when he had one of our concrete delivery trucks in our TX plant painted white with a huge orange paw on the drum after winning the Natty. He was a man who loved life, who loved to laugh and to brighten other people's day with his humor. I know he probably has St. Peter pulling his hair out by now! I pray his family's grief will be tempered by their wonderful memories and by the ones shared by those of us who knew him.

Through the many years of working with Roger you learn a person well. Roger could be hard but if he seen someone struggling or you asked for help, he was all ways welling to jump in and help to see things through. Roger was a friend and will be missed. My family and I will keep Ruthie and family in our thoughts and prayers. May the Lord be with you through this hard time and the future.

Ruthie, Gaston, Gage I was devastated to hear about Roger. We had so much fun together on Heathwood Drive. Do you remember Roger being Big Bird for Ballenger’s birthday? When Roger left for work he was my alarm clock. Know he will be missed. Continue to build a happy family as he helped to do.

Prayers to the Knox family. Roger and I were great friends growing up in Sumter. We were football teammates and I can remember Roger being one of the hardest hitters on the defensive side of the ball. After high school we both attended Clemson and roomed together our freshman year. As life tends to do we grew apart and we unfortunately did not keep up with each other. Roger was a loyal friend and I can only imagine that he loved his family and grandchildren very fiercely. I will keep the family in my thoughts and prayers as you get through this trying time.
Love,
Milton Schwartz

Roger was my roommate for a couple years at Clemson and someone who had a keen eye and exploratory mind for applying what he was learning....kind of an every-man's engineer.
His love of quality stereos, a good playlist, fun times and concrete was unparalleled.... I wonder if he still had his turntable platform he made out of concrete ?
My condolences to his wife, children, family and friends.
