ROGER WAYNE MILLER

VICTORIA - Roger Wayne Miller, 70, life-long resident of Victoria County, died Wednesday, November 28, 2012. He was born October 16, 1942 to the late Jesse Marshall and Juanita Hirschhauser Miller. He married his partner in life and friend, Joan Kruppa Miller on November 14, 1963. They had been married 49 years and 14 days, and had been blessed with four beautiful and loving daughters.
In addition to his wife Joan, he is survived by his daughters, Lisa Miller Robertson, Laurie Miller (Richard) Dechert, Catherine Miller, and Stephanie Miller (Adam) Mareth; grandson, Samuel Robertson; step-granddaughter, Kelsey Dechert; eight nieces, a great-niece and nephew; sister-in-law, Patricia "Pat" Squyres Miller, mother-in-law, Alice Kruppa; and his aunt, Laura Dearman; numerous cousins, and a myriad of friends. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Donald Miller, and son-in-law, Sam Robertson.
Roger served as treasurer of Emmanuel Lutheran church in Inez for 47 years, and he was active in the church's Men in Mission Group. He retired as a production supervisor from DuPont in 2001 after 37 years. In retirement, Roger became a full-time rancher and friend to whomever needed him. He will be dearly missed.
The family will receive friends at Grace Funeral Home on Friday, November 30, from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 1, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Inez, with Pastor Stephen Estrem officiating. Burial will follow at Hirschhauser Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Richard Cabla, Tommy Gaylord, Joe Herman, Dan Mikulenka, Mike Kocian, Ronnie Pesek, Billy Pribyl, and D.J. Schneider. Honorary pallbearers are Richard Dechert, Adam Mareth, Todd Maples, Rae Miller Flores, Marco Flores, Brandi Miller, Markus Harper, Joanne Heggins, Betty Hatheway, Jimmy Ray Dearman, Alvin Dearman, Alton Dearman, Allan Dearman, Kathy Cabla, Amy Cabla Deere, Jennifer Cabla, Alyssa Cabla, Beth Cabla, Angie Killough, Carrie Kruppa, Richard Phillips, Mike Hirschhauser and Mark Hirschhauser, Dee Horton, and the Bridge Inn Gang, and numerous friends and family.
Memorials in Roger's name may be directed to the building fund at Emmanuel Lutheran Church or to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
