Roger Redel Obituary

Roger Erle Redel, 80, of Nashville, TN passed away on June 22, 2023. He was born on September 27, 1942, in Hollywood, CA to his parents, Erle and Marjorie Redel.

Roger's professional life was a source of great pride and spanned 36 years as a Chief Set Lighting Technician in the Motion Picture Industry. A member of the IATSE Local 728, his film and TV credits include Disney's The Black Hole and Tron, Air Force One, Murder, She Wrote and many others.

Roger will be remembered as a kind hearted and compassionate man who volunteered his time for many years at numerous charitable organizations close to his heart including: Feed the Children and Celebrate Recovery in Santa Clarita, CA along with People Services Meals on Wheels Program in Petaluma, CA .

Roger was a committed Christian whose faith was the foundation of his life. CrossPoint Church Nashville became his Tennessee church home. Previous church membership included Calvary Chapel Petaluma, CA and Christian Family Church and Heart of the Canyons in Santa Clarita, CA

Roger and his wife Linda enjoyed traveling the world in retirement and explored numerous countries and cultures.

Roger is survived by his wife of 47 years, Linda, son Matthew (Melanie) Redel from Vermont, his daughter Jennifer (Jeremy) Tackett and granddaughter Quinn from Nashville, TN as well as his sister Diana (James) Gross from Camarillo, CA.

Roger's wishes were to have his ashes scattered in a private ceremony. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his name to:

We knew Roger and Linda and Family from Christian Family Church with Pastor Art Dolder. They used to live off Valley Street in Newhall. They were active in our community in all the right ways and didn't seek prominence. They had servant hearts. We have very, very found memories of our times with Roger and the Redel Family. I don´t remember what was said but it was in the garage when you guys are getting rid of everything. Somebody said something, and Roger just let out a big laugh. The sound of his laugh will always stay with me.

Roger was one of the kindest men I was privileged to spend time with. He had a beautiful mantle of grace and humility. One of my favorite memories was how he loved Linda. He was an amazing example of a Godly husband.
