Roger Dale Shelton

NORTH TAZEWELL, Va. — Roger Dale Shelton, age 59, of North Tazewell, Va. entered into eternal rest Monday, March 2, 2009 at Tazewell Community Hospital follow a long illness.Born December 28, 1949 at Louisville, Ky., he was a son of the late Rev. Woodrow Shelton and Tilda Shelton. He was a member of the Abundant Life Ministries Church at Bishop, Va. Mr. Shelton was a retired coal miner with over 20 years and member of the UMWA. He enjoyed and loved being a husband and father and was loved by his family.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Karen Alberta Atwell and Linda Gaye Shelton.Left to cherish his precious memory are his wife of thirty-seven years, Angela Muncy Shelton; two daughters, Delta Grose and Keith of Bishop, Va., Beverly Prater and Shawn Baker of Squire, W.Va.; one son, Robert Shelton and Melissa of North Tazewell, Va.; seven sisters, Janice Marie Hutchinson and Bill of Yukon, W.Va., Kathy Mae Matney and John Charles and Sheila Ann Melton and John all of North Tazewell, Va., Brenda Kay Shelton and Eric Thornburg of War, W.Va., Sylvia Sue Muncy and Ken Stowers of Claremont, N.C., Yolanda Lynn Spencer and Steven of Hickory, N.C., Virginia Faye Rose and Allen of Mt. View, N.C.; four brothers, James Fred Shelton, Charlie Andrew Shelton and Charlotte, and Woodrow Junior Shelton all of War, W.Va., Jaye Nathan Shelton of Mt. View, N.C.; stepmother, Rosetta Shelton of Yukon, W.Va.; loving mother in law, Lucille Muncy of War, W.Va.; during this illness, his days were made more comfortable by the compassionate care given by his special niece, Drema Asbury and Vicki Christian, Jenny Muncy, and Deborah Hicks; special friends, Frank and Amanda Bedwell; nine grandchildren, Joshua London Horn, Brandon Lee Prater, Tyler Shawntu Grose, Destinee LeeAnn Prater, Jeri Alexis Prater, Sara Ann Shelton, Trevor Keith Grose, Alex Carl Shelton, and Ashley Mae Shelton.Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 6, 2009 at the Pentecostal House of God in Adria, Va. with the Rev. Harvey Wayne Osborne officiating.
