I met Roger Swisher in 1969 when working at Burlington Industries Industrial Fabrics plant. He was always quite the gentleman, and ready to help the next person in the door of S & R. While I didn't know Roger personally, I returned to Kernersville in 1975 and I knew Kernersville was in very good hands for the many years Roger served the community. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this time.

I grew up running around S&R watching my dad Denis Cusson (who passed last year) work on cars for years and Roger was always kind and loving to me! He will forever hold a special spot in my heart! Now he is at peace and no longer suffering, that much closer to a happy ending and back with a friend!

Kernersville has lost part of its soul with the passing of Roger Swisher.

The depth of his love for the town, its people and his unwavering optimism for its future will live always in the hearts of all who were indeed blessed enough to know this man.

For as long as Kernersville's future burns bright, it will owe a never-ending debt of gratitude to a man who will forever and always be known simply as "The Mayor."

My deepest condolences to the entire Swisher family. I rented a duplex from Grady and later Roger for many years. They were the greatest men. I thought the world of both of them. The Lord has called another wonderful person home.

Roger was a dear friend to our Mom and Dad (Elmer and Pearl Cobbler). He never failed to answer Moms calls of concern. In Mom's own words, "That Roger Swisher is a good man".

Roger was a gentleman and patriot. He nominated me for delegate to the 1976 Republican National Convention when I was a college student.
