Roger Valentine Obituary
Roger was preceded in death by his father & mother and all 5 of his siblings. Roger is survived by his wife of almost 57 years, Sharon, their 4 children Nathan (Angie), Beth McCall, Paul (Cheryll), and Micah (Brittany), along with 13 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Roger was born in New York, but left there at the age of 18 to join the Air Force. During his time in the Air Force he was introduced to the gospel and became a follower of Jesus Christ. After his time in the service he went to a small Bible College in Phoenix, AZ where he met Sharon. They came to SC to finish his education, and from there went to serve the Lord in missions work. They came back to Greenville, SC where Roger continued vocational work in various roles over his career, many of which were with ministry organization. Roger retired from Connie Maxwell Ministries in 2009, but continued to serve in his local church, Honea Path First Baptist. In fact, Roger was active in every church he served in over his lifetime, often serving in church leadership and teaching Sunday School. In addition to these roles, Roger had served as a member of The Gideons and helped with Meals on Wheels. The legacy that Roger leaves of his 80 years of life is one of dedicated service to his community, his Lord, and his family.
The family would like to express their profound appreciation to the team at Traditions Palliative & Hospice, especially aides Ebony & Kareema & nurse Marie, for the tireless and compassionate work they did to serve Roger over the last 2 years. The family would also like to request that in lieu of flowers, any memorials you would like to make be made to Connie Maxwell Ministries, The Gideons, or a charity of your choice.
Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Thursday, March 28, 2024 at Honea Path First Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Josh Phillips and Rev. Bill Cole officiating. Private burial will follow the service.
The family will receive friends from 1-2 P.M. Thursday at the church prior to the service. Messages of condolence may be made to the family at www.ParkerWhitePruitt.com

Bill and I were deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Mr. Valentine, and we want to extend our deepest sympathies to you all during this incredibly difficult time.
Roger was a great friend to my dad. He loved my dad and was there for him at a time that many people turned their back on him. I saw the love of Jesus in Roger and he made an incredible difference in my dad's life. Roger was a wonderful example of a loyal and selfless friend to the end. It meant the world to me and my family to see Roger at my dad's funeral, even when I know it was hard for him to get out of the house.
Roger was a constant for good in our family all through the many years we have known him, so I can't imagine the pain of loss that ripples through your family.
Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you all as you navigate through this time of profound loss. May you find comfort in the cherished memories, and joy and expectation in knowing that death is not the end and in Christ you will be reunited again.

I was so saddened to hear of the passing of Roger, but know he is so happy to be in heaven with his Lord and Savior and hear the words "Well done thou good and faithful Servant". He was a dedicated Christian man! My love, prayers, thoughts, prayers and sympathy are with dear Sharon, Beth, Nathan, Micah, Paul and all the family. God bless each one of you, comfort you and give you His peace!!
