I'm so sorry to hear about your loss, I was a patient of Dr. Becnel's (I always called him Dr.) since I was 8 currently (24) , he was always a great person to be around and being the sick kid I was I saw him often. Always joking and making sure our interactions were meaningful I looked to him for advice whenever I could see him and he seemed like more of a uncle with a medical degree rather than my doctor. He helped me through alot of my issues medically and personally throughout my life and I'm forever greatful for those moments. I'm blessed to have met him and I wish his family all the best. He will be missed greatly.

Roland Becnel was one of two incredibly smart RN's I worked with early in my nursing career late 80's and early 90's. He was KING of the WJMC ICU whenever on duty. His knowledge expansive, often intuitive, but always spot on. Never afraid to question an MD, or suggest something--always in best interest of the patient, and ALWAYS correct. I will never forget him. He was a gift to the healthcare profession. I will never forget him. I was just discussing with a friend who just happened to work at WJMC around the same time, people we remember, and ROLAND was the one and only person we both recalled well. So sad to look him up and find he has passed. Friends and family, please accept our condolences. He was an amazing healthcare provider.

Roland was a good friend in high school and I was truly saddened yesterday to hear of his passing in June. Though we both followed the same path into medicine, I regret never having had the chance to work with him during our careers. It appears by the other comments that he was liked, loved, admired and respected, as he was in school back between 1970 and 1974. My condolences to his family, David Stalcup - Johns Hopkins Medicine Columbia, MD

Even though he was a RN, he was always Dr Becnell to me so rest in peace Dr Becnell . Prayers to the family , sorry for your loss .

I am so sorry to hear of this. Dr. Becnel (I always called him Dr.) took care of me and my sons for many years before Katrina washed us out of LA. When we moved back recently I thought about looking him up. I just found this today and am saddened by the loss of such a caring man. My prayers to his family.

Roland was my preceptor when I was in my nurse practitioner program 2004-2008 and DNP program 2010-2012. A wealth of knowledge and compassion for his patients at WestCare. The medical community of the Westbank has lost a great one. My condolences to the family. He was truly my mentor.

To Rhonda and family,
Roland and I grew up together in the same neighborhood. He worked at Trupianos for a time. Years later we ran into each other at the hospital. He was already established and well on his way to a success. I enjoyed working with him and missed him the days he wasn't there. He was always in control of the situation and you knew it was going to be a good day, no matter what was to come.

He is irreplaceable and will be sadly missed in the community. My heart goes out to you and your family Rhonda.

May the love of friends and family carry you through your grief. I had the pleasure of working with Roland when he was our house supervisor on weekends at West Jeff. He always listened to our issues and was always helpful when we needed him. I would also ask his advice occasionally when caring for my Elderly Mom. He was always so caring and very knowledgeable. May he rest in Gods loving arms. Will keep humans all his loved ones in my prayers.
