Like Gary Schoener, I met "Timmy" in the shared graduate house known as Despie manor. His easy laugh and smile fit well in that joyful company of psychology graduate students who loved to play, tease and debate. A long time passed before I saw his work with psychedelics cited in Michael Pollan“s book "How to Change Your Mind" and to see his stunning contributions in this realm that had so long been abandoned.

Roland was always "Timmy" to myself and our room-mates. We were graduate students in psychiatry research at the U. of Minnesota and lived together in a house called "Despie Manor." I have a ton of fond and funny memories and have been hunting for old photographs. That was 50 years ago. Recently he got back in touch with myself and other former roommates to share with us his diagnosis and impending death. Condolences to all. If there is to be a memorial I would like to send some things and/or attend.

I met Dr. Griffiths when I was hired as a staff nurse at BPRU in 1976. I later became head nurse until I left in 1992. We worked closely together as BPRU expanded. This field of Behavioral Research was all new to me and I have many positive memories. Thank you for all your contributions. May you Rest In Peace.

What an amazing life to have contributed so much to so many through his studies of the effects psilocybin can have on living a more meaningful, conscious life. Thank you Dr. Griffiths for all you are and contributed to the world. We are so grateful for everything you shared with us. May your journey continue to light the cosmos as no doubt you will!!

Roland was an inspiration to the next generation of scientists. He was the objective, open-minded thought leader that we should all strive to become. His method of provoking thought and inquiry among his peers and mentees was unparalleled. He will be deeply missed.
