Roley McIntosh Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 29, 2024.
Roley Dean McIntosh, born on September 4, 1935, in Hominy, Oklahoma, passed away at the age of 88 on August 27, 2024, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He is survived by his wife, JoAnne McIntosh; brother, Butch McIntosh; children, Ronnie McIntosh, Phillip Stermer, Dee Anne Day, Tonya Boone (Dennis), and Teresa Stermer; 19 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his sons, Donald, Michael, and Roger McIntosh and daughter, Marsha Daniels.

After working as a caddie at The Oaks Country Club as a teenager, Roley began his career at the age of 20, taking a part-time job at Production Manufacturing. His dedication and work ethic saw him rise to the position of Purchasing Manager, a role he held for 55 years until his retirement after 62 years with the same company! Roley often expressed his joy in working, stating, "I really don't want to retire. I enjoy going to work. It's a lot different working because you want to and not because you have to."

A proud member of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation, Roley was deeply involved in his community and cultural heritage. He was a member of the Oklahoma Masonic Indian Degree Team, traveling internationally to perform Indian dances at Shriners hospitals for young patients. He was also a member of the Intertribal Indian Club of Tulsa and an avid golfer, always commenting he wasn't as good as his brother, Butch!

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 29th from 5:00pm to 8:00pm, and the service on Friday, August 30th at 10:00am, both at Schaudt's, located at 1329 E 151st St S, Glenpool, OK 74033. The graveside service will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Checotah, Oklahoma.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Shriners Children's Hospital in memory of Roley McIntosh. Roley's legacy of love, integrity, and dedication to his family and community will be fondly remembered and sorely missed.
