SMITH, Rolla D. – Age 92, Nashville, March 15, 2013. Preceded in death by wife, Agnes Smith; daughter, Linda Underwood. Survived by wife, Helen Ketteman Smith; daughter, Beth Whaley (Vernon); grandchildren, Laurie Whaley Roe (Jeremy) and Jeremy Whaley (Kenya); great-grandchildren, Carter, Luca and Noah; sister, Genelle Scott; step-children, Greg Ketteman (Jill), Carol Reid (Garnett) and Joy Corn (Randy); 11 step-grandchildren and 5 step-great-grandchildren. He pastored at Hazel Creek Free Will Baptist (FWB) Church (MO), Fellowship FWB Church (Flat River, MO), Donelson FWB Church (Nashville), First FWB Church (Savannah, GA) and Grant Avenue FWB Church (Springfield, MO). He was a man of ordinary means yet rich in what matters most…love for God, love for family and love for friends. He was the General Director at FWB International Missions Department from 1960-1962 and 1975-1986 and Missions Instructor at Welch College from 1987-1989. Visitation will be Saturday, 4-6 pm and Sunday, 2-4 pm at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home. A life celebration service will be at 4 pm on Sunday, March 17, 2013 at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home with Dr. Paul Harrison officiating. A graveside service will be at 10 am on Monday, March 18 at Hermitage Memorial Gardens. Honorary Pallbearers are missionaries and staff members from the FWB International Missions Department and members of the Harvesters Sunday School Class at Cross Timbers FWB Church. Maurine and I have known Brother Smith since the late 1940's, truly a man of God. He was a pioneer leader with Free Will Baptists. He made a profound mark on his denomination and will be greatly missed. Thank God for what He allowed Rolla to accomplish.
