Ron GLASS

Peacefully and now at rest, Ron passed away on Friday, April 14, 2023 at Joseph Brant Hospital. Beloved husband of Jean (nee Penrice) of 60 years this year. Loving father of Debbie (Paul) Mortimer and Denise (Brian) Sorensen. Will be sadly missed by grandchildren Lindsey, Brian, Carter, Emma and Sarah. Fondly remembered by siblings Helen (Garry) Kirby along with nieces Tracie and Kathy of Calgary. Will be missed by brother-in-law Doug (Dianne) Penrice of Georgetown along with Sandie, Grant, Chris, Stacey, Ryley, Leah, Rachelle, Nick, Mia, Janica and J.C. Ron was born in York County, Toronto and is predeceased by his parents Bessie and Bill Glass. Ron started out as a truck driver with Scott Transportation in Oakville and along with his wife Jean owned and operated R.G. Transportation Services in Oakville for many years. Ron loved boating and fishing in Florida and here in Canada, boating on Lake Ontario and travelling the Trent System. He loved the warm weather, Caribbean Cruises and spending time with Russ and Bev Herren on Marco Island in Florida. Ron was a much-appreciated volunteer with the Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary, Marco Island Power Squadron and the Canadian War Plane Heritage Museum. An accomplished gardener, Ron was awarded with many Burlington Rose Awards. Also, an avid runner and after a 45-year hiatus, at age 61, became a successful 5 and 10 km runner in both Burlington and the Niagara area, with the medals to prove it! As Ron's running transitioned to walking, he would make his way along Spruce Avenue to Brant Street sporting his colourful Caribbean shirts becoming known and "the guy in the crazy shirts". Ron will be dancing in heaven with his dear granddaughter Lindsey at her wedding to Dave in July. A special thank you to the staff at Park Avenue Manor for their love and exceptional care. He will be missed by all who knew him. Visitation at Bay Gardens Funeral Home, 1010 Botanical Drive, BURLINGTON (905-527-0405) on Thursday, April 20th from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at Bay Gardens Funeral Home - Burlington, 1010 Botanical Drive, Burlington on Friday, April 21, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev Canon Dr. Penny Anderson officiating. For those who wish, memorial donations made to the Royal Botanical Gardens or Joseph Brant Hospital would be appreciated.
