Ronald Alfred Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 12, 2025.
Ronald Edward Alfred, passed away on September 9, 2025, in St. Charles, Missouri, at the age of 71. A lifelong resident of the St. Charles area, Ron was born there on May 24, 1954, and remained deeply connected to his hometown throughout his life.

Ron grew up on a farm in the Black Walnut area of St. Charles County. He was always proud to say that he had over 50 first cousins. After the passing of his father during Ron's teenage years, the family moved into the city of St. Charles, where he would go on to leave a lasting legacy. He graduated from Duchesne High School in 1972 and continued his education at Southeast Missouri State University, graduating in 1976. It was during these formative college years that he became an active member of the Sigma Chi fraternity and earned the nickname "Mator" for his tomato-colored hair-a name that stuck with him for life and symbolized the warmth and humor he brought to those around him. He considered Sigma Chi a true brotherhood where he made many lifelong friends. He was passionate about promoting the fraternity throughout his life.

Following college, Ron began a distinguished career in technology with Central Area Data Processing (CADP), which later became National Information Solutions Cooperative (NISC). Over more than four decades with the organization, Ron played a pivotal role not only in its growth but also in shaping its culture. One of his proudest accomplishments was helping to hire many successful and long-term employees-an achievement that reflected both his keen eye for talent and his deep commitment to mentorship.

Beyond his professional life, Ron was a devoted father to Emily, Claire, and Henry. He took great joy in being involved in their lives and education-volunteering regularly at Benton Elementary, Hardin Middle School, and St. Charles High School. He thrived as an assistant scout master with the Boy Scouts and found fulfillment guiding young people through meaningful experiences. Another favorite pastime of his was traveling with the St. Charles Presbyterian youth group every year to Pensacola to volunteer with Habitat for Humanity.

Ron's generosity and community spirit were evident in every chapter of his life. He was deeply involved with preserving the historic Midtown neighborhood of St. Charles where he lived for over 30 years. His passion for service continued into retirement where he volunteered at Oasis Food Pantry and traveled with the Red Cross to assist communities affected by natural disasters.

Faith played an important role throughout Ron's life. He grew up attending St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church before spending over two decades worshiping at St. Charles Presbyterian Church. Later in life, he found spiritual community at Faith United Methodist Church. He served others through various volunteer roles in the church.

Ron also found joy in hobbies that reflected both his personality and passions. He was an enthusiastic member of the Gateway Camaro Club and loved driving his cherished car "Bumblebee" to car shows across the region. Whether behind the wheel or lending a hand at church or school events, Ron always had a smile on his face-a kind-hearted presence who made others feel welcome wherever he went.

He leaves behind a loving family who will carry forward his legacy: children Emily (Andrew) Hardee, Claire Bogucki and Henry Alfred; grandchildren James and Natalie Hardee, and Evelyn Bogucki; siblings Roy Alfred Jr. and Diane Lott. He is remembered as a great brother, brother in-law, cousin, father, grandfather, and friend.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents Mary Jane Alfred (Vogt) and Roy Alfred Sr., as well as sisters Betty Broeker and Mary Vaughan.

Ron lived a life marked by kindness, service, laughter, and love for family and community. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him and continue to inspire acts of compassion for generations to come. A Celebration of Life will be held on September 15, 2025, from 04:00 PM to 07:00 PM at Tubby's 506 Droste Rd.

Remembrances may be made in the form of contributions to the SEMO Sigma Chi chapter (https://donate.sigmachi.org/give/577562/#!/donation/checkout)

Brother Ron, you will be missed. Always enjoyed our working together on the Epsilon Phi House Corp and loved your passion for support of the undergraduate brothers of the chapter.
