Ronald Beard Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 15, 2024.
Ronald Lyle Beard peacefully passed away on June 5, 2024, at the home of his daughter in Wylie, Texas. Known to most as Ron or Ronnie, he was born in Fort Worth, Texas on November 8, 1942, to Earl Randolph Beard and Frances Lurana Lucas Beard.

Upon his graduation from Highland Park High School, Ron entered the U.S. Air Force, serving as a Staff Sergeant in the 6989th Radio Squadron Mobile, USAF Security Service during the Vietnam War. After being honorably discharged he went on to earn a Business degree from North Texas University.

Professionally and personally, Ron possessed a salesman's charm but tempered that with integrity and honor. He held several positions in Sales that he was proud of: in Bryan, Texas he was the Champion Products salesman for many sports teams in Texas and owner of The World of Golf, and in Plano as a real estate agent with Posey Properties and for ReMax. His career with Fathom Realty, however, became the cornerstone of his later life. For 12 years he served faithfully as the Assistant State Broker & Regional Director, and would have chosen to continue guiding his thousands of Texas realtors as long as his body had allowed.

Of the many names Ron was known by, such as Uncle Wonderful, RB, Daddy R, Uncle Turkey, and Papa Beard, the name Grumpaw was his favorite. He played golf every chance he could get, watched every Western ever made, and loved Patterson/Cussler-esque novels. Though he worked tirelessly for his clients he was consistently in the stands cheering on his kids, even serving as baseball coach, Planoette Photo Dad and Maroon Guard Booster. He faithfully served as an Usher at Christ Church, Plano, for many years. Ron was valued by men and women alike due to the regard and respect he showed them. He could do a spot-on impression of Donald Duck and he loved pecan tassies, homemade banana pudding, medium-rare steak, good vodka, and cheap Scotch.

Ron is survived by his loving family: daughter Kristen Beard Boyle and son-in-law Scott Boyle; son Matthew Beard and daughter-in-law Katie Tate Beard; son Greg Payne and daughter-in-law Robyn Payne; and by his adored grandchildren Avery, Brylea, Kelsea, and Brandon.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents and his older brother, Raymond Randolph "Randy" Beard.

He joins in Heaven many friends and family whom he's dearly missed, and leaves behind a legacy of love and respect by all who knew him. He is definitely playing a round with his buddies.

A memorial service will begin at 4:00 pm on Friday, June 28th, 2024 at the Eldorado Country Club, 2604 Country Club Drive, McKinney, Texas 75072, and will be followed by a celebration of Ron's life, where all are invited to honor his memory. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Veteran-centered charity of your choice via the following link. https://donorbox.org/nonprofit-blog/veteran-nonprofit-organizations

Ron was such a great mentor and friend. He continued to keep me updated in the real estate market throughout the years. I am saddened that I did not know about the celebration of his life in time. Prayers of peace and comfort for family and friends.
