Ron and I were teammates in Army Special Forces. I was young when I got to the team and I looked up to him and learned much from him. Great times that I will always remember and often reflect on. RIP Ron. Great man.

Ronnie, you are considered by my father to be one of his closest friends in life and one of the best police officers another officer could have worked with and for in a career. Growing up I heard many of your epic stories as you told them and have heard my father proudly repeat many of them to others over the years. I am only half your age but because of your friendship with my father in some ways I feel like I know you as much as the next guy does. To Ronnie's family, I am sorry for your loss! Ronnie was larger than life but real and will remain that way in death to his closest friends and those such as myself who have had the privilege of knowing him. He made an impression on my life from an early young age. As a young boy he gave me pointers on swimming and then threw me into the deepest parts of the water on the beach to get me to swim. This was his way to get me to see that I could do it. Ronnie was also a very compassionate man and concerned for others as I experienced firsthand only a few short years ago when I was injured in training and out of work for a while with significant pain. Ronnie, hearing of my condition, came to see me at my house on his own and by himself. We talked for a couple of hours and his compassion for others was evident. I could see on his face that he knew I was really hurting. What I don't know is if he could see past the pain on my face to see how much his visit meant to me. I will never forget Ronnie. He is every bit the human being described by others. Rest in Peace!

Ron Damon was not only my shift commander but a very good friend. We worked together for 25years, and after retirement continued to be best friends. I remember going on many calls with Ron and he always had the right words to calm the situation down. Ron was someone you wanted with you on a bad call. Ron was a great man and a great police officer. He was stern when he had to be, but compassionate. There will never be another like him. I will never forget Ronnie Damon my very good friend, I will miss you.

Nothing but fond memories. Ron was more than a father in law to me ... he was a second father. Was a pleasure training & competing in power lifting with him & Pat as well as talking military history with him. He took me rock climbing, scuba diving and other activities I would never have accomplished without him. Every couple of years he would take me to Virginia to his Navy Seal reunions. Stayed with another outstanding man Glenn & his wife Faye. He also liked taking my daughter Sarah swimming & always liked coming up to my home were his daughter Kellie (my wife) would always make him feel at home, which he always did. He will never be replaced & was a remarkable man with a generous loving heart. I love you very much Ron, rest in peace.

Pat and Mark sorry for your loss of a great man. Knowing Ron and your family started at USM gym and continued to many more in the area.
Remember telling Ron, I wanted to be a police officer. Ron questioning, why the hell do you want to do that? After becoming a Westbrook Police Officer, Ron was supportive of my career. Ron always took time to talk and tell a story or two.

I remember Ron growing up and he was a SO. Portland Police Officer. We need today, more men such as this who was a great police officer and showed compassion to all who he met. He helped me when I had a paper route and it was a very stormy day in January. He helped me finish my route that morning and gave me a ride home. Saddened to hear of his passing. Just know Heaven has a great person/cop up there and he will continue to serve in that capacity.

Ronnie was a Great guy and I really looked up to him all my life - very sad! I became a commercial and recreational deep sea diver because of him. One of the most exciting things I have ever done in my life, and still count it as my most joyful activity. Please give my condolences to Mark, Melanie and others in his family. He will be missed, a larger than life kind of guy. I have so many memories of his personality and antics, a Real Man's Man with a heart of gold and a fearless nature. There will be no replacement for Ronnie Damon! Although, his son Mark may be able to pick up the ball.
