Ronald Fletcher Jr. Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 30, 2024.
Ronald William Fletcher Jr., known affectionately as Ronnie or Ron to many, passed away the evening of June 20, 2024, at the age of 61 in Martin County, Florida. Born on April 28th, 1963, in Winchester, Virginia, Ronnie dedicated his life to his family and his career as a flour miller, where his work ethic was unmatched by anyone.

Ronnie's zest for life was evident in his love for motorcycles and what his children would call "old rock music." Known for his humor and his ability to lighten any situation, he often reminded his loved ones, "we got this" and "one day at a time." A true family man, Ronnie was deeply devoted to his family, including his mother, children and definitely his grandchildren, but he was the first person to help anyone who needed help, family or not. He was extremely loved by all his friends, new or old and anyone who knew him would tell you how amazing of a person he was.

He leaves behind a loving family: his mother, Mary Galloway; father, Ronald Fletcher Sr.; daughters, Amanda Fletcher, Cristen Russell (Andrew), and April Skipper (Steven); son, Bryan Barr; grandchildren, Travis "Travie" Huffman, Noah Skipper, Nevaeh Shingleton, Camerin Shingleton, Raegan Russell, and Paislee Fletcher; mother of his children and former wife, Lori Swanger; nephews, Todd Million, Michael Million, Andrew Schools and Logan Schools; brother, Larry Fletcher(Lisa) and sister, Angela Schools(Robert). Ronnie was preceded in death by his sister, Diane Fletcher; grandmother, Helen Fletcher; grandfather, Robert Fletcher; wife, Donna Owens Fletcher; stepmother, Cleora Fletcher and daughter, Brandy Wells.

A once member of John Handley High School in Winchester, Virginia, Ronnie was known for his resilience and selflessness, always ensuring that those around him were cared for and happy. His presence was a comforting constant in the lives of many, and his legacy as a problem solver and a man of his word will forever be cherished.

Memorial services for Ronnie will be announced at a later date. His final resting place will be with his wife Donna at Chestnut Grove cemetery in Winchester, Virginia in the early fall sometime. His memory will continue to inspire all who knew him, as he was truly the biggest angel in the room, even if he didn't think so, everyone around him knew it was true. Ronnie will be profoundly missed by many, leaving behind countless cherished memories and lessons of love and perseverance.

Sometimes people end up in your life when you least expect it. I knew of Ronnie many years ago but had never met him. When we 1st started talking it was about loved ones we shared. We didn´t plan on falling in love and talking about a future together or as he called it 'our last decade on earth', but we did. I wouldn't change one moment of out time together. I only wish there could have been many more. R.I.P., my love. If anyone deserved their Angel Wings, it was definitely you. I miss you and will love you forever.

My dad was the funniest person I've ever known, even if he didn't intend to be. He always kept things as light as he could, even when it was a really heavy time. I know that every person who truly, really knew him, knew he was just a good soul. He was always worried about everyone else and wouldn't let another soul worry about him, no matter what he made it seem like he was good. I hope he is truly at peace now, watching his grandchildren from the best seat up there and rolling those endless golden roads on a beautiful bike. I will always miss you and the world will always be just a little less beautiful without you in it. Until we meet again.

I only met Ron once but that was enough to know he was a good person. He was easy to know and be around. The old saying the good die young fits, a good person gone too soon before his time.
RIP

I remember in senior year how Ronnie would always draw pictures for me as I was so in awe of his talent. But most of all his beautiful smile and personality is what I remember most. Always smiling and so kind. And his love for animals. He is greatly missed and loved
