Ronald Hawk Obituary

Funeral services for Ronald L. Hawk Sr., 80, of Davenport, will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 1, 2005, in the All Faith Chapel of the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport. Visitation is Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Inurnment will be at a later date in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Hawk died Friday, May 27, 2005, at Fejervary Health Care Center.
Ronald was born on Oct. 20, 1924, in Bethany, Mo., the son of George and Lilly (Shaffer) Hawk. He married Christa Schlewitz. She preceded him in death in 1992. He worked as a welder and truck driver for several years, traveling nationwide.
Ronald enjoyed NASCAR racing. He spent his time stock car racing during the 50's and 60's at the fairgrounds in Davenport.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Survivors include daughters, Jamie (Kevin) Meier, Davenport, and Jodie (Randy) Bennett, Edington, Ill.; a son, Ronnie Hawk Jr., Davenport; five grandchildren; a brother, Roy Hawk, Seattle, Wash.; and a sister, Bev (Bill) Maugh, St. Joseph, Mo.
Along with his wife, he was preceded in death by brothers, Russell Hawk and Rodney Hawk, and a sister, Beryl Webb. May they rest in peace.
