Sorry to hear of Ron's passing. In the '80's, Ron was my major professor for a Master of Science degree during the initial studies on the control of the aquatic weed hydrilla in Wake County using tilapia and grass carp. Ron was a man of few words, easy-going and gave a young grad student much freedom. My condolences to his family.

Thinking of you Ron on your birthday. There was something very special about you. I felt connected to you from the beginning. Your smile, your spirit and your can-do attitude. I only knew you for a few years but you made an impact on my life. Love you Ron!

Ron was truly one of a kind, just a wonderful man who cherished life and nature. His love for his family and the world around him was very inspiring. His strength, generosity and passion for farming despite his challenges were remarkable. I will miss his quick mind and great laugh. Thinking of the family and everyone who was touched by his presence.

Ron, I only knew you for a sadly short time. But I like to think we would have shared many, many times at the bar chatting. I enjoyed our limited time very much. Rest my friend, too early but you have earned it.

What a wonderful tribute to a wonderful man. Although I wish I had known him longer, I will continue to think of him fondly and enjoy the peacock feathers in my house that remind me of Ron and Kay and their beautiful farm.

My sweet Pap. You were such an amazing person and I am so lucky I got to know you but even luckier that I got to call you my grandpa. Thank you for everything that you taught me and I´m so thankful for the 22 years of life I got to spend with you. I love you so so much.

Ron, You were a true friend and colleague of mine. I will always cherish memories of our discussions and studies of fisheries. You taught this physicist a great deal about the life sciences. Bless You, Len Pietrafesa

The Gannon´s are so sad this day has come! He was such a great mentor to Cole in his high school years. I loved hearing some of the their stories when I picked Cole up. Those two had some great laughs together and Ron had a great laugh! You are all in our thoughts and prayers at this difficult time. I bet he is out running through the gardens in heaven!!

Kay and family, I am so sorry for your loss. I think I gasped out loud when I saw Kristi's post on social media about Ron's passing. Even though we only met in person once or twice, I was grateful for the brief opportunity to know Ron. I enjoyed exchanging messages and gardening and cooking tips with him via Kristi! I was so grateful to be on the receiving end of the excess bounty from your garden in exchange for some figs or some homemade mayonnaise. And the eggs! My family and I were so sad when our years of purchasing chicken and duck eggs from Ron came to a close. They were the best! The beautifully written story of Ron's life gave me such a wonderful image of all the other sides of Ron that I didn't know about. The Order of the Long Leaf Pine - wow! I pray that you will find comfort in his memories, and I pray that you have peace. Blessings, Tara Seidel

Thank you Pappy, for teaching me all about farm life, the good and the difficult, the dirty and the delicious, and the hard stuff that leads to pride in work well done. But mostly, I thank you for loving my mom, me, and my family so much. Our memories on the farm with you will be cherished forever. I could write a book, but I´ll refrain and kept it succinct and direct, just the way you´d liked it. Love you forever n ever!
