I too was a security guard for Base Fort Patrol in the 1970s. I remember Ron as a very nice man. My condolences.

I was very saddened to hear of Rons passing. I worked for Ron in early 70s as a security officer then went on to a 40 year career in law enforcement. Many of the things I learned from Ron served me well over the years. I have always had huge respect and admiration for Ron. He was a man of integrity and honour and will be missed. Rest well dear friend.

It is truly sad to have lost both Ron & Dora. I worked with them as a security officer for APS for close to 3yrs. Dora & Ron were a star couple and loved each other as well as their careers deeply. They were commited to not only each other, but to their officers and their mission to provide quality service to their clients! I will never forgot the experiences I had with APS as well as Dora & Ron. They gave me a chance to try something new and my experiences with them paved my way into a career in Paramedics. I am in school doing my EMT training and they had a huge part in my success! Dora & Ron will be truly missed in my heart, but always remembered :)
May you both rest in a world of loving peace knowing you left your mark on this world & you touched many hearts!

I'm very sorry to hear of the loss of Mr. Minion. I've got fond memories when I was 15-16 or so especially living on the acreage at Priddis
Dad (Gary Nadeau) had some good times with Ron and I know he had allot of repect for him both as a boss with Basefort and as a friend.
My thoughts and Prayers are with his Family.

I worked for Ron in 1983, but thankfully spoke to him via email a year ago. I knew him as a man with a precious heart. I am so sorry to hear of your loss, Chad, Jeff, Dennis, and family, as well as of Dora.

My condolences to the Minion family. I new Ron through being a
member of ASIS Alberta chapter. It is my understanding Ron was a driving force behind the success of this chapter. Although we have not had any contact for some time now, Ron Minion is not a person you forget soon. I have always held him in the highest regard and am saddened by this unhappy news.

I was tremendously saddened to hear of Ron's death. Like many, I had known Ron for many years, within the context of the security industry. Ron's energy, passion and sense of adventure will be greatly missed. Ron was a builder, not just of security companies, but of people as well. To all of Ron's family, may there be brighter days ahead.

It is with deep regret that I write this note for my hero of hero's. I started working for Ron in 1969 and became his friend as well as his employee. I left in 1974 to join the Calgery City Police but our friendship lasted all these years.
He was the inspiration for my accomplishments small that they are compared to Ron. He gave me Hercules a wonderful dog that the book "Together We Stand Alone" was wrote about. I will never forget his leadership, his friendship and his drive to succeed. He was the very definition of mentor who will be missed by many.

I met Ron in 1980 when I started with Basefort. I started part time and ended up working full time as a dog handler, then zone commander and then city supervisor.
I remember the job, the experiences and the people fondly.
I have never forgotten one thing Ron said while I was taking my dog handling course. It was "Bring up your dogs as you would your kids; and your kids as you would your dogs". At the time, I thought that that was just terrible. Then I had kids.
I have now told MANY new parents this piece of advice.
I always enjoyed running into Ron over the years and was saddened to hear of the Minion family's loss.

My Uncle Ron was an amazing Man! I remember from a young age the presence he commanded when he came into the room. Ron always had his dogs with him and loved to put on a show for everyone. His German Shepards fell in line to his command along with his poodle Pierre.. who jumped over, under and around them.
I will always remember Ron as a dog Man, he acheived great sucess over the years showing his German Shepards.
Ron always had a real zest for life and he was a go getter! Starting new businesses, building new homes and starting new families. Even through his health crisis his attitude was "I can beat this". I will never forget the last time I saw Ron and he told me about how he has lived his life by the 4 "L's": Love, Laughter, Learning and finally Lou...
We will always remember the great achievements you made and the impact you had on those who came into your life. We will miss you and never forget you!

In 1957 I joined the RCMP in Winnipeg, Mb. While I was doing this, Ron was joining the force in Alberta. We ended up in the same troup along with 30 plus other members who will all miss Ron as much as I. Ron was one of the two best boxers in the troup and when we lived in barracks we all became closer than brothers in many families. I kept in touch with Ron, but not as much as I should have. We had a 5oth Anniversary get to-gether last June, 2007 in Cranbrook, BC and we all spoke highly of Ron and we surely missed his presence there but not his spirit. We reminisced and Ron was in our thoughts constantly. I was so sorry to hear about his ALS and know that if he could have possibly been at the reunion, he would have been there. We will miss you, go with my prayers. Verne

My sincere condolences to all of the family and many close friends. I first met Ron 30 years ago and have been impressed ever since with his energy, devotion to the professionalism of the industry and willingness to help others along in their careers. It is truly sad to see such a wonderful human being pass on but, at the same time, gratifying to have known him and to know that he had time on this earth to achieve so much and touch so many people.

I met Ron back in 1995 while working with MPS as field supervisor and after as assistant operations manager.
When MPS merged with another company I started my own operation.
I am glad I met Minion through whom I gained my experience and knowledge of the industry.
Thanks Ron, may God keep you in his care.
Dora, I hope all is well with you. Please get in touch; I haven’t talk to you in a long time.

I was fortunate to get to know Ron when he gave me my 1st office job with Base Fort Patrol. He also gave me my special friend, Ace, my German Shepard. I have many wonderful memories from those years.
May all your memories and the love of friends and family carry you through your grief.

Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to you on this great loss. Ron was both mine and my Dad, Tubby's mentor as a dog trainer. If it weren't for Ron's pushing my Dad, he would not be the trainer he is today. Ron's booming voice was as big as his love for dogs and getting the best out of them. We will miss him terribly. Hugs to the family.... Sincerely, Tubby Miller and Michelle Miller-Simpson

I'm sorry for your loss. Here is a little something nice to remember. Ron gave me my first full-time job and believed in me enough to move me up even though I didn't have any experience and, because of his kindness I was also allowed to keep my dog Casey. Ron allowed me to bring him to work everyday so I wouldn't have to move or give him up. It makes me chuckle to remember how he would order the dogs to stay up on the table when this little gopher (Casey) would walk by. You could tell they just wanted to pounce but they were so well trained Casey was ok running around the office for the most part.
