Ronald G. Reed
NEW FRANKLIN -- Ronald G. Reed, 76, passed away from cancer on January 1, 2014.
He was born January 10, 1937 and was raised in East Liberty, Ohio. He was a member of Local 84, retired in 1995 after working as a Heat and Frost insulator for 40 years, and was a member of the Akron Baptist Temple.
God blessed Ronald with the ability to use his hands; in his job, painting pictures, woodworking, restoring old vehicles, and most of all, helping anyone that needed a hand. His last and most proud accomplishment was building a treehouse for his precious great-grandchildren, Isaac and Liz this past year.
Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Alta Reed and brother, Mervin (Buss) Reed. He is survived by his wife and best friend of 56 years, Colleen (Shockey) Reed; son, Ronald "Ron" Reed Jr.; daughter, Cheryl Ann Hancock; grandchildren, Rebbecca "Becca" and Bob, Ryan and Trisha, Melissa, Allison and Ronnie, Lisa and Vince; great-grandchildren, Samuel, Isaac, Elizabeth, Savannah, Elijah, Hayden, Ryan Jr., Jayden, Myah, Linden, and Destin; and sisters, Leona Booth, Darlene Davis, and Janet Smith.
Friends may call at Bacher Funeral Home, 3326 Manchester Rd., on Friday, January 3, 2014 from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m., where service will be held Saturday at 1 p.m., Rev. Dallas Billington officiating. Friends may also call on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Interment at East Liberty Cemetery.
