Ronald "Ronnie" Rothweiler Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 27, 2024.
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ronald "Ronnie" Rothweiler Jr., who departed this life on July 24, 2024. Born on December 7, 1956, Ronnie was a beacon of light and talented musician who brought joy and laughter to everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Named after his father, Ronald "Buddy" Rothweiler, Ronnie carried forward his spirit of joviality and talent. He was predeceased by his brother Kenneth "Kenny" Rothweiler, father, Buddy, and his mother, Frances Nightengale Wharam. They left an enduring legacy in Ronnie; a legacy of humor, skill, and unyielding positivity.

Ronnie is survived by his daughter, Morganne (Rothweiler) Scancerella, sister Sandra (Rothweiler) Rutherford, neice Tomika Peace, nephew Shawn Peace, neice Shelby Rothweiler, great nephew Tryce Garris, and girlfriend Robin Vaughan.

Throughout his life, Ronnie was an unwavering supporter of the Kansas City Chiefs. His cheers and camaraderie during the football season will be fondly remembered. In his spare time, he found solace in fishing and strumming the guitar. Throughout his years, Ronnie showcased his talents as a vocalist and guitarist in many local Richmond bands, most recently with Jack Ruby.

Those who knew Ronnie will remember him as a funny and talented individual. His humor acted as a beacon in challenging times, and his inherent talent was evident in the music he created and the stories he shared.

A Celebration of Life service will be held in honor of Ronnie on July 31, 2024, at Atlas 42, 4032 Cox Rd Suite A, Glen Allen, VA at 6:00 PM. Attendees are encouraged to share their favorite stories about Ronnie, and musician friends are welcome to play tribute as we remember his life and the joyful spirit he carried with him. His laughter, love for life, and his talent will be deeply missed, but his memory will endure in all of us he's left behind.

I met Ron when I was 19 and have known him for 43 years. He was a joy to just talk to and always made me feel better. Durning many times of hardship in my youth he would pick me up, take me to his home and feed me. He is one of the funniest people I have ever know, would give you the shirt off his back and I am very lucky to have known him. To this day I still tell people his jokes and stories. Last time I saw him play was at an open mic at a bar about 5 years ago. He was amazing and it brought me back to memories of my youth within seconds. He was playing like they were paying him. I will think of him often and know at least for me my life has been better for knowing him. Thank you, Ron, I will miss you.

My first memory is going to see T Allen Kelley Band a very long time ago when my longtime friend Jaye was playing in. Hung out with them whenever they played. He was so cute. They played at Crazy horse, the state fairgrounds and a bunch of other places. We met back up again about 5 years ago and have been together ever since. I will do miss our conversations, cooking and watching him play with Jack Ruby band. Gone way too soon. RIP up in guitar heaven love you!

We played music together in Richmond, VA in our band called "TALK OF THE TOWN". During the late 80s and again in the early 90s. Ronnie kept us in stitches with his funny comments and funny stories. He was an incredible guitar player, singer and all-round fun guy to work with. We spoke about a year ago and I had no idea what he was going through health wise. Thanks for all the great memories. Rest in peace our dear friend.
