On Wednesday, October 20, 2021 the Lord called Ronald Lee Smith home into His kingdom. Ronald was born July 7, 1954 to the late Walter and Hazel Smith in Washington, D.C. He attended Rudolph Elementary School in Washington, D.C. Later in life he moved to Robbins, N.C. with his twin brother Roland to live with and care for their grandmother. They continued their education at Elise Middle School and North Moore High School. Ronald was a member of Collins Chapel Church where he accepted Christ and was baptized. He served as a trustee, usher and Sunday School teacher. He was also a humanitarian and a role model to the youth of the community along with his twin brother. Ronald was joined in Holy Matrimony to Patty Dianne Smith. He was employed by Milliken for 10 years and then by Elise Middle School for 22 years where he retired for health reasons. He also worked with Moore County Parks and Recreation for 15 years, coaching and setting up the gym for games with his devoted wife Dianne. Later in life, Ronald and Dianne relocated to Remix Church of Whispering Pines as a Sunday School teacher and served on the usher board. In addition to his parents, Ronald was preceded in death by his brother: Roland Smith; honorary brother:Jackie Person; father and mother-in-law: Willie Lee and Olillian Shamburger; best friend and golfing buddy: George Chalmers. He leaves to cherish his memories, his loving and caring wife: Patty Dianne; loving pets: Harley and Coco; special brother in Christ and sister-in-law: Lynn and Jennell Crump of Charlotte; special claimed daughter: Takhia Conrad; three sisters: Wilhelmina Harris of Washington, D.C., Nina Carter of M.D., Adrienne Rogers of Washington, D.C.; one brother: Walter M. Smith of Washington, D.C.; special brother: Bobby Marley; brother-in-laws: Jerry Dowd (Janice), Boyce Dowd (Sharon), Michael Shamberger (Shonda) and a host of nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. Services will be Saturday, October 23, 2021 at New Zion Cemetery in Robbins at 1:00 PM with Pastor Dale Wallace and Pastor Heath Thurman officiating. The family asks that masks be worn during the service. The body will lie in state at Kennedy Funeral Home in Robbins from 1:00- 5:00 PM Friday, October, 22, 2021 and Saturday, October 23, 2021 from 9:00 AM until 12:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Kidney Foundation, 11921 Rockville Pike, Suite 300, Rockville, MD 20852. Online condolences may be offered at www.PinesFunerals.com. Kennedy Funeral Home is honored to serve the Smith family. Genesis 31:49 May the Lord watch between me and thee when we are absent from one another.
