It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ron Thomas, a devoted husband, loving father, proud military veteran, and passionate aviation enthusiast. He passed away peacefully on April 24th at the age of 87, surrounded by family.
Born on June 10th, 1937 in Boone, NC, Ron lived a life defined by service, dedication, and an unshakable sense of honor. He served his country for 30 years with distinction in the United States Air Force as an In-Flight Refueling Specialist, where he forged lifelong bonds and earned the respect of all who served alongside him. His years in the military were marked by courage, commitment, and a deep love of country.
After his military service, Ron continued to pursue his lifelong fascination with flight. Whether he was piloting a small aircraft, attending air shows, restoring vintage planes, or sharing stories with fellow aviation enthusiasts, the skies always called to him. His passion was contagious, and he inspired many to look upward with wonder.
At the core of his life was his family. Ron was a devoted husband to Elaine, with whom he shared 62 years of marriage. Together, they built a life filled with laughter, adventure, and unwavering support. As a father, he was both steady and supportive, teaching his children Todd, Greg and Pam the values of integrity, hard work and perseverance. He took immense pride in their accomplishments and was their fiercest advocate and greatest fan.
Along side his family, Ron helped grow their family business and was a mentor to many of the employees who still remember him fondly.
Ron will be remembered not only for his service and his love of aviation but also for his humility, his wisdom, and the quiet strength with which he faced every challenge. He leaves behind a legacy of honor and love that will continue to soar in the hearts of all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife Elaine, his children Todd Thomas and his wife Debbie, Greg Powell, Pamela Bizzini, and grand children; Brice, Sofia, Genevieve, Monique, Michael and Emily and his Sister, Pam Ventioner.
Ron will be laid to rest with full military honors on October 10th, 2025, at San Joaquin National Cemetery in Santa Nella, CA.
