After a period of failing health, Ronald D. "Ron" Tichon, 67, of Fairhaven, passed away on Wednesday, January 6, 2010 at Tobey Hospital in Wareham. He was the loving husband of Martha M. (Considine) Tichon with whom he shared 46 years of marriage.

Born in New Bedford, a son of the late Everett H. and Anne M. (Rogers) Tichon, he resided in Fairhaven for most of his life. Ron lived in Florida in his earlier years and truly loved the warm weather.

He was a graduate of Fairhaven High School, class of 1960, attended Stonehill College and served in the United States Coast Guard Reserves.

Ron was the Vice President of Tichon Seafood Corporation in New Bedford and instrumental in building the company. He was President of Tichon Lincoln Mercury in New Bedford and had numerous other business ventures throughout the years.

He was a member of the National Fisheries Institute, the Lincoln Mercury Dealership Association and the Cuttyhunk Cruising Club, long standing member of the New Bedford Country Club, and The Bay Club of Mattapoisett. Ron was a great tennis player and golfer. His passion was boating and true country music. He was an avid sports enthusiast. Known for his great sense of humor, Ron will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Tara M. Klinka and her husband Darryl W. and their children, Devon M. and Jordan W. of Fairhaven and Tracey A. Tichon and her significant other, Aaron of Fairhaven; a son, R. David Tichon and his wife Marianne and their children, Dylan M., Dina N. and Jake E. of Fairhaven; a brother, Daniel E. Tichon and his wife Diane P. of Fairhaven; three nieces, Shelly A. Tichon, Julie A. Ciffolillo and her husband Jon and Jennifer L. Tichon; and a great nephew and niece, Matthew and Meghan Kelly.


Visiting hours Friday 5-8pm. at Waring-Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribute at Fairlawn, 180 Washington St., Fairhaven, MA 02719. His funeral will be held on Saturday, January 9, 2010 at 10am from Waring-Sullivan Home followed by a funeral mass at 11am in St. Joseph's Church, 74 Spring St., Fairhaven. Burial will be private and held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Nemasket Group, 56 Bridge St., Fairhaven, MA 02719.
