Oh. I forgot to add this to by previous entry. After I delivered my baby the next day Dr Trunsky called my husband and asked how´s Joanne doing? My husband was in a deep sleep from Being up all night, when the phone rang. My husband will never forget this phone call. He was in a deep sleep and Dr Trunsky called to check up on me. That was my first child, Chelsea. I hope his grand children and great grandchildren can really know what a kind and loving man he was. To everyone he encountered he connected to and helped. Thanks Dr Trunsky.

Dr Trunsky taught me psychiatry at Sinai Hospital. I learned the most from him because he cared. I was pregnant during that rotation and he gave me a signed copy of Shel Silverstein's book called The giving tree. You know it´s a green book w a tree and I boy on the cover. You´ve all read it and if you have not yet you best read it. The meaning is about the giving and receiving we have to do in life to get thru it. And being a good receiver and a good giver.
He knew I was about to embark on a new born baby and how it would affect me. We visited the holocaust center. And that was life changing.
Dec of 2023 I visited Auschwitz. I guess he was watching me from heaven. Yes he was a class act. As all his comments say. I only wish I knew he died and attended his service.
But I found this years later when I was looking up psychiatrists for a family member who ended up teaching me a life lesson that goes back to my psychiatry rotation With him. We need people like him today to understand the mental health crisis that is going on right now.
He made me a better physician.
He knew that. All the people he touched were in Ways that came naturally to him. He believed in
Helping others and love of God.
I feel connected to him today.
His legacy lives on.
Condolences to all family members who miss him. We can´t get him back. His spirit I still feel. And his presence. And yes all the notes he stuffed in his pocket. This entry is late. But he´s caused me to write and know that he´s up there with the communion of saints. And surrounded by that community he came from and helped. Love of God and neighbor he lived out his faith.
Peace my friend. Look upon us and continue your good work.

As a student nurse at Sinai Hospital of Detroit I was thoroughly entertained by Dr. Trunsky's humorous films. I knew him only by reputation, but he left an impact.

To any members of Ron's family who may read this,-I have memorabilia from the 385th Medical Dispensary at Ingrandes, France including two pictures of Ron. Should you read this and have an interest I would be happy to send you copies. Included is a letter I received from Ron when we were both enjoying civilian life written in his distinctive large hand. We worked together in 1958 and 1959. This was a formative period of my life which Ron was a positive part of. I have many favorable memories of serving with him. I served as a medic at the 385th medical dispensary, Ingrandes, France in 1958 and '59.Doc Trunsky was my C.O. I believe I have at least two pictures of him taken at that time. I was allowed to drive his Jaguar XK 150 about one mile after his just purchasing it. To me, he was always sincerely concerned about his patients and usually tolerant of our attitudes as reluctant soldiers and not always competent medics. I am grieved to read of his passing on the Internet. I guess there are not many of us left from those days (I am 85 and shrinking) and despite our duties, which were at times stressful, I often think of those days and the people with whom I served. My sympathies to any remaining family members. Bob Zimmerman

I will always remember Dr. Trunsky saying that "Nobody cares how much you know until they know how much you care." He was truly one of a kind.

There are no words to fully express my gratitude for the tremendous and beautiful impact that Dr. Trunsky had on my early career and life. But I'll try a few... I met Dr. Trunsky as a third year medical student during my psychiatry rotation at Wayne State medical school. He gave many lessons but there is one that always stuck with me. He told me that the core of every individual, in all of their pursuits and life desires can be summed up in four basic needs. That everyone, fundamentally, has a desire to be cared about, tended to, appreciated and loved. I'll never forget that. I think about that every day as an anesthesiologist, as a wife, a mom, as a human being. This understanding has carried me through and helped me to ease the anxiety of countless patients long before I start up my sedation in the operating room. What a gem!
Also, he was quick to remind me that my last name, Jenkins, was also the maiden name of his beautiful wife Judy. He told us the story that wherever he traveled and wherever he was in the world he would find a heart shaped rock and give it to Judy on his return. He even pulled one of those gray misshapen rocks out of his pocket:). He's unforgettable...and his legacy will live on in the lives of those who were touched by his kindness, compassion and wisdom. God Bless his family..we know he's looking around in heaven for a few more of those beautiful rocks...
maybe he'll have some to give you Judy when he sees you again..

Dr. Trunsky was my attending physician in my third year rotation in Psychiatry while attending Wayne State University Medical School. He was a huge supportive man who delighted in reminding me that Eddie Lake was a shortstop for the Tigers in 1945? Who would know that kind of stuff?? My father was also a graduate of WSU Med school in 1942. He also was Eddie Lake Sr. I am crushed to find out I did not reconnect with him in several years and now to find him deceased. He was instrumental in my finishing school, I've had a marvelous 34 year career. But what I love most is seeing his left pocket stuffed with his cards and notes. Thank you for that. Edward c. Dr. Trunsky was truly a noble soul. He offered me support amidst a negative spiral during my internship, and on completion bid me goodbye: you are a good man, Dr. Jindal. Sir, you are among the best I met. Ripu Jindal Birmingham VA Medical Center, Birmingham AL
