It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Husband, Father, Son, Brother, Uncle, Cousin and Friend, RONNIE GRANADOS, age 57. On Monday, September 12, 2022 Ronnie, joined our Creator and entered eternal rest surrounded by his loved ones after a short but valiant battle with cancer. Ronnie was a lifelong resident of Las Cruces, born October 22, 1964 to Amelia Trujillo Apodaca and Manuel R. Granados. In 2009, he retired from the Doña Ana County Sheriff Department as Sergeant, but returned to continue his work as a D.A.R.E. and G.R.E.A.T officer. He was also a member of the Roman Catholic Church. Ronnie was the greatest dad always supporting his children in everything they did in school, sports, and all other activities. He also assisted in coaching their sports. He was Vice-President for the Mayfield High School Volleyball Booster Club and was a great supporter of the team as well as the Mayfield Football team and Track team. He was very proud of his children and always showed them the greatest amount of love. He enjoyed watching sports, although he was not a Chicago native, his favorite teams were the Chicago Bears, Chicago Cubs, Chicago Blackhawks, and Chicago Bulls. He loved going to Aggie Basketball games. His greatest accomplishments were his service to the community as a Sergeant, D.A.R.E. and G.R.E.A.T. Officer which he taught for over 25 years. He touched the lives of over 15,000 children in Dona County and was very proud of his work. Ronnie touched the lives of many and always made a friend everywhere he went. He loved our trips to Las Vegas, Laughlin and California. In 1988, Ronnie married the love of his life, Debra Diane Ledesma Granados and together they had three beautiful children; son, Jacob Paul and two daughters, Angela Noelle and Alyssa Denise; his mother, Amelia; and his only brother, Manuel Granados Jr.; his father-in-law, Rufio Ledesma; sisters-in-law, Sandra Moreno (Chris) and Lisa Stepro (Murray); his nieces, Deena Fowler (Cody), Jessica Granados, and Danielle Munez (Gabriel); and special cousin who he loved as a sister Debra Chavarria (John) as well as numerous other family members all survive him. He was preceded in death by his father, Manuel; a nephew, Anthony Granados; and his loving mother-in-law, Esther Ledesma. Visitation for Ronnie will be from 9 AM to 11 AM Friday, September 30, 2022 at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, 1240 S. Espina Street with Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 11 AM. I, (We) will never forget Ronnie. He was a good man. A man of his word who could always be counted on. He was very proud of and supportive of Diane, Jacob, Angela and Alyssa.
I know he’s gone to heaven to live in eternity and to wait for the day when his loving family joins him.
Ronnie touched so many lives, especially those of young children in our schools. He made an impact and he performed his job well by making a difference.
He will be terribly missed in this world but, is now with our Lord Jesus receiving his just reward of eternal life, resting in peace.
