Ronnie Perrigan

CLINTWOOD – Ronnie "Wounded Knee" Perrigan was born Oct. 24, 1951, to Clarence and Lillian Yates Perrigan. Ronnie left us Sept. 1, 2007.
He was preceded in death by his parents, maternal grandparents, Noah Stanford and Mahala Yates Hammons; and paternal grandparents, Rufus and Susie Turner Perrigan.
He leaves to mourn a sister, Brenda Perrigan Fleming and husband Duster of Clintwood; two nieces, Mellonie Fleming and Dusty Fleming, Lisi and husband Peter, all of Atlanta. He also leaves a host of uncles, aunts, cousins and friends who love him and will miss him greatly.
Ronnie was fondly known as "Knee" by most who knew him. He lost his leg in a motorcycle accident at the young age of 16. His friends at Haysi High helped him carry his books as he climbed flights of stairs. He never let anything stop him. He intended to enjoy all the things everyone else did, and he did. He had a smile that could melt your heart and a laugh that could raise your spirits. He played and worked hard, and his body paid the price. He was a self-employed truck driver for 27 years. He worked five years for Presley Trucking. Ronnie was a wonderful and caring man who lived his life to the fullest.
Funeral services will be held at the Haysi Funeral Home in Haysi on Wednesday, Sept. 5, 200, at 11 a.m., with Elders Roger Coleman and Toy Looney officiating. Gordon Deel will hold prayer and read the obituary.
Pallbearers will be Kyle Fleming, Travis Fleming, Dennis Stanley, Donald Burke, Charley Smith, Donnie Harrison and Dennis Harrison. Honorary pallbearers are Danny Harlow, Poley Branham, Jason Rose, Travis Creech, Carlos Stanley, Dale Presley, Jim Presley and Scotty Robinson.
Burial will follow at the family cemetery on Baker Ridge, Clintwood.
