Ronnie Pincus Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 15, 2025.
Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend, Ronnie H. Pincus, passed away on June 14, 2025 after a brief illness.

Ronnie was born in Paterson, NJ on December 28, 1946. She and her twin brother Mark were born to Jules and Nettie Halpern, and the family moved to West Caldwell, NJ in the early 1950s. Ronnie graduated from the University of Massachusetts in 1968 with a degree in Sociology and a minor in Spanish. On April 11, 1976, she married David I. Pincus in West Orange, NJ. In 1978, they moved from New York City to the Washington, DC suburbs, eventually settling in Potomac, MD to raise their two children, Matthew and Andrea. Ronnie focused on being present for her children in their early years while also working as an instructional assistant at local elementary schools. She later went back to school herself, obtaining a master's in Education from Trinity College and becoming a 5th grade teacher at a local elementary school.

After retiring, Ronnie enjoyed a wide range of hobbies including traveling, reading, exercising, home decorating, playing mahjong with friends and of course, spending time with her beloved grandchildren. Ronnie was well known for her outgoing nature, sense of humor, as well as her warmth, generosity, kindness and love to her family and friends. She will be dearly missed by all she touched.

Ronnie is survived by her husband, David, to whom she was happily married for nearly 50 years. She is also survived by her daughter Andrea, of Seattle, WA, son, Matthew and his wife Nancy, of Westport, CT, as well as her grandchildren, Anna and Charlotte, whom she greatly adored. She is survived by her twin brother Mark Halpern (Joan) of Conshohocken, PA. She was predeceased by her parents, Jules and Nettie Halpern.

In lieu of flowers, we encourage you to make a donation to the charity of your choice. Memorial service will be held Wednesday, June 18 at 11am at Torchinsky Hebrew Funeral Home, 254 Carroll Street NW, Washington, DC 20012. Burial will be private.

Though Ronnie and I eventually lost regular contact because of our moves to different places, she remained in my heart always. I have so many wonderful memories from our Caldwell years together. She was my best friend back then and I loved walking to her house after school, having sleepovers, watching her favorite fella on TV: Perry Como!, having laughs with her and Mark, talking with Nettie. We also had fun misbehaving - mostly me - in Hebrew school, and hanging out at the Cabana Club in the summer.
When we both lived in NY and then eventually Maryland, she was there for me during some good times as well as rough times.
Just a few weeks ago we spoke on the phone and caught up. I was so looking forward to visiting her soon on a trip to D.C. with my husband.
She was such a beautiful person: warm, vivacious, great smile, laugh and - of course her unique style of sneezing! :) The world without her is different now, but her time here left so many heartfelt memories on which to reflect and celebrate. Love you, my dear friend. Laura (Schiebel) Kline

David and family..I was so sad to learn of Ronnie's untimely death. She and I bonded as support personnel at Garrett Park ES,before she eventually became an elementary school teacher. We had kept in touch over the years to update each other on our lives. She was a sweet and lovely person and will be missed.

Dear Mark, David and families...

Thinking of you and sending you my warmest heartfelt sympathy and comfort on the loss of your loved one Ronnie.

Our families lived across the street from each other when Ronnie, Mark, my sister Leesa and I we were very young and we enjoyed playing together with neighborhood friends. Our parents remained friends for many years after we grew up and embarked on our own life journeys.

Ronnie was my dear and very special childhood friend who was always a joy to be with, kind, caring and thoughtful and I cherish my many
memories of the early friendship we shared.

with love...

Ronnie I will always remember us trying to sing at some senior high school function. We were terrible. I remember Bob Hilton saying "Somebody had to do it". You will always be a great memory and a lovely friend Leslie

To all of Ronnie´s friends and family,
My heart goes out to all of you. Ronnie exercised with me (remotely through zoom) for the past several years and we shared many fun emails about our lives but especially about updates on her beloved granddaughters and my younger cousins, Anna and Charlotte.
Too hard to find the right words after such an unexpected, quick passing but I´ve been thinking about Ronnie and all of you a lot. I will miss her smile on my computer screen.

Mark.. we have talked a couple of times since she passed away. All I can offer you now is wishes for strength during these emotionally troubling times. Ronnie. As kids, you,Mark and I frequently played together. But as we got older and in college we even got closer. I think about you often. You were very special person.
