Ronnie Starkey Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 25, 2025.
Ronnie Allen Starkey, born on September 11, 1953, in Welch, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on January 15, 2025, in Beverly Hills, Florida.

Ronnie was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Judy L. Starkey, of 21 years and a loving father to his daughters Laura Starkey of Middleburg Heights, Ohio, and Maureen Glaser of Louisville, Kentucky. He was also a proud stepfather to Vanessa (Brandon) Mulcahy of Carrollton, Georgia, and Brandon Patten of Canton, Georgia. Known affectionately as "Poppa," Ronnie cherished his role as a grandfather to 14 grandchildren and great-grandfather to two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard L. Starkey Sr. and Thelma R. Miller; his brother Richard L. Starkey Jr.; sister-in-law Cathy Starkey; and brother-in-law William Mickey. He is survived by his siblings Larry (Barbara) Starkey of Crystal River, Florida; Angelia Mickey of North Royalton, Ohio; and Gregory Starkey of Parma, Ohio.

A proud veteran of the U.S. Army who served with the 3rd Infantry Division, Ronnie carried his sense of duty and patriotism throughout his life. After his military service, he built a career in chemical manufacturing before retiring from Hernando County, Florida.

Ronnie will be remembered for his great sense of humor and his loving and giving heart. He had a deep love for Oldies music, classic cars, and taking cruises with his bride. May his memory forever bring comfort to all who loved him.

Ronnie will be laid to rest at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida. In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice of Citrus County are greatly appreciated. May his memory be a blessing to all who knew him.

I first met Ronnie in the early 1980´s when we both worked for a trucking company. I always enjoyed his sense of humor. We met up again on Facebook about 14 years ago. It was great to see him twice during the summer of 2024. Rest in peace my friend, see you on the other side.

Those we love don´t go away, they walk beside us everyday. Unseen, unheard, but always near.
May the lifetime loving memories of your brother bring you peace and comfort.

Ron and I were friends since school. He truly was one of the good guys and I will miss him dearly. We both lived in the same house (double) for awhile with our families . We often played games and each of us blasted our stereos that we bought overseas. Ron, I will miss you my friend.

The day I met Ron I didn´t realize how big of an impact he would have on my life. He became a second father figure but mostly my best friend. He could turn any frown into a smile and I looked forward every day to hear a story or the conversations we would have. He will forever hold a special place in my heart as well as my family´s and I thank God for it. I know you´re cracking jokes and just dancing away up there. Until we meet again friend.
