RONNY EUGENE "GENE" BARNETT
Gene was born in Hico TX in June of 1934, to Bill & Lucille Barnett. He served as 2nd Lieutenant in the National Guard Armed Forces. He was an avid runner and marathoner. Gene lived on Townlake Austin, so he could get an early start on his daily runs. Gene and Frankie are long-term members of Manchaca Baptist Church where Gene served as teller. He began his long-term professional career as a roofing contractor where he served on the state level as president of the roofing contractors association of Texas.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a great granddaughter.
Gene is survived by his loving wife Frankie of 59 years; daughters, Teresa Cain (Alan), Joni Vought (Brian), Robin Comstock (Jeff), son Rocky Barnett (Mary Kay); nine grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; brothers, Billy and Tommy; sister Jimmie Clark.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Sunday, July 29, 2012 at Harrell Funeral Home, Austin, TX.
A celebration of Gene's life will occur at 2:00 p.m., Monday, July 30, 2012 at Manchaca Baptist Church. Internment will follow at Live Oak Cemetery, Manchaca, TX
Pallbearers are grandsons, Jake Comstock, Cody Comstock, Matt Cain, Jared Cain, Wheeler Cain and Clint Cain. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Lear, Howard Harrison and Stephen McCauley.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Manchaca Baptist Church.

I was out of town for 2 weeks and just found out about Gene's passing. When I was the Diector of the Roofing Contractors Assn of TX, I always had the highest respect for Gene as a caring, capable and considerate professional, and a very fine gentleman. I know the family realizes they have lost a great person and are thankful for his life. My sympathy to all of you. I am thankful for his life, his faith and peace.
