Although we didn't see much of each
other after our freshmen year at
Catholic High (I transferred to
Parkview), I still remember playing
with Rory in MacArthur Park while
at recess at St. Edwards. I also
remember being a tempermental child
in gradeschool and being taught one
of the most important lessons in my
life by Rory: Respect. He has
always had and always will have my
respect and admiriation.


You all have my heart-felt
condolences for your loss. I will
never forget him.

Before I wrote this, I read through
some of the entries in this book. It
did not surprise me to see how Rory
touched the lives of so many people
including myself. It is in the mind,
body, and spirit of the people in
this book that will keep Rory with
us. For me, Rory will be remembered
as a classmate(Catholic '90), a
teammate, and most of all a friend.

As a parent who spent many hours on
the sidelines with our sons, I know
how deeply he was loved and can't

your son. It was such a pleasure
getting to know Rory and spend time
with him. About a month ago we
were looking through the pictures
from our trip to Europe and both
wondered how he was doing. I don't
think I will ever forget Rory and
our upset tummies as we crossed the
English channel, or are days we
spend in Amsterdam. It was a
pleasure and honor to have
befriended Rory. We will keep you

I am a secretary at Arnold Drive
Elementary, I spoke to you a few
times on the phone in the past few
years. I am so sorry about the
death of your son. I share your
pain,my son was killed in a car
accident on July 28, 2000. I am now
a member of Bereaved Parents, we
meet once a month. Compassionate
Friends has a very helpful website
if you are one day interested. The
meetings are a lot of help to me,
they are not for everybody. I know
that it is so soon and so fresh, but
I wanted to tell you about a
National Memorial Candlelighting
ceremony that will be Sunday night
on the 10th at the Imax Theatre,
from 6:30pm until 8pm. Bereaved
Parents will have a candle lighting
ceremony on the 18th at 7pm at the
Presbyterian Church at Cantrell &
I-430 on Pleasant Valley Drive.
Again I am so sorry.

Cloverdale. One thing that I
recognized, even as a child, was
the way your face lit up when you
spoke of Rory. While I never really
knew Rory, I do know that Rory had
to see the same "light" that we all
