I just learned of Rosalie's passing. I am devastated and at a loss for words. We are first cousins - I was a flower girl in her wedding to Elm. The Vaccaro family is so small - a great loss and a huge hole in my heart..

My deepest sympathy and heartfelt prayers for all pf you! I cannot even imagine how difficult this must be for you all. Such a sweet, funny genuinely kind lady, and she will be missed. I remember many fun times with her, and many times years ago swimming at her home and laughing and smiling every time i was around her. I wish I could be with you all today (still home sick and do not want to share this with anyone) but please know I am thinking of all of you and am holding you in my thoughts, prayers and my heart! I love you all very much. heaven has another angel watching over you all.

Sending waves of love and warmth to comfort you in this time of great loss. My dad (C.W.) just implored that I also please send HIS highest regards to you and the family, as his memories of Rosalie were all so very positive; he said he remembers her so very fondly as being a "great lady - a really nice lady", and expressing sadness at the news of her passing.
Although it has been many years - (at least a couple of decades, even) since I had the great fortune of seeing "Maw Maw Rosalie" myself, I do recall memories from my childhood of being in her presence; and, as the great saying goes, it is certainly true in THIS case regarding Maw Maw Rosalie: "You may not remember exactly what they said, you may not remember what they DID, but you will always remember how they made you FEEL". I remember feeling very very happy and comfortable in Maw Maw Rosalie's presence, and I recall creating warm, sunny childhood memories - thanks to her, thanks to the fantastic Wood family, and thanks to the love she had for every soul who walked through her doors. Our loss is great, no doubt.....and for those of us who were fortunate enough to know this beautiful woman, we each hurt WITH you.
May time, along with comforting words from family and friend, ease your suffering and guide you to finding eventual peace. Embrace the times you see her in your dreams, for I do very much believe that this will be her new way of actually visiting with you. Enjoy a "hug from Heaven" when that happens, and try to find comfort in knowing that she is, in that regard, still very much watching over each of us.
All our love,
Heather Schouest Povsnar (sending love from Austin, TX) and C.W. Schouest (Sending thoughts and condolences from New Orleans)

Aunt Rosalie, my Mom's cousin was an amazing lady. I remember her best from visits at Aunt Muriel's house with my mom and Grandmother Anna and the ladies talking and talking. Rosalie, while sometimes acerbic, was never mean spirited and it was wonderful to watch my mother seek and trust her advice, Rosalie being the elder and wiser cousin. That my mom who to us had all the answers ,would ask guidance of Aunt Rosalie, put Rosalie in the pantheon with the rest of the great thinkers of the world. That she had a never ending supply of lifesavers, made her a goddess.

96 years! What a long and beautiful life. I say that because, when I think of my Aunt Rosalie, I remember a kind, loving and generous lady. My fondest memory of her was of those Sunday afternoons, after church, when we would go to her house to swim. The first person to answer the door was Aunt Rosalie, with her warm, welcoming smile. And that smile never faded even though 5 excited, rambunctious children were invading her home to bring 5 wet little bodies in and out of her perfectly kept house!! Amazing!! Even as a child, I noticed she had a way of making people feel loved and accepted. Her effect on my mother was probably the most profound in that mom always seemed to have an extra bounce in her step after spending time with Aunt Rosalie. Our thoughts are with your family as you celebrate her life and mourn her loss.

An unbelievable mom who cared greatly for her family. She practically raised me as well since most of my youth was spent with her family. She worked so hard and never gave up when faced with adversity. For her devotion to others, I often referred to her as Saint Rosalie. She was the greatest!
