Rose Marie Benton, 92, of New Buffalo, Michigan, passed away on Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at Westwood of Niles in Niles, Michigan.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Sommerfeld Chapel, 15 N. Barton St., New Buffalo, Michigan.
Rose was born on May 13, 1930, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, to the late William and Frances (Scott) Wenzler.
Rose is survived by her daughter, Cynthia (Gary) Papendick of Union Pier, Michigan; sons, Robert Benton and Gerald (Trisha) Benton; 14 grandchildren; and multiple great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by sons, Thomas, Terry and Tim Benton; sister, Adeline St. Pierre; and brothers, Leonard, Arthur and Norman Wenzler.
Rose was a lifelong Seventh Day Adventist and belonged to the La Porte Seventh Day Adventist Church in La Porte, Indiana. She was a retired teacher; and after retirement she loved traveling the world.
Rose was an avid walker, baker, enjoyed shopping, going out to eat and family dinners with her daughter and son-in-law. Before losing her sight, she loved to read, knit and crochet. Rose enjoyed her many friends, and will be missed by both family and friends.
The family had private services this week, and is planning on a Memorial Service at a later date. Rose's final resting place is at Pine Grove Cemetery in New Buffalo.
