LYFORD — Roseann Harmon Earley Bennett, 68, passed on to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, March 8, 2008, at Terre Haute Regional Hospital. She was born Dec. 23, 1939, to Winifield “Windy” Harmon and Mary Means Harmon. She graduated from Staunton High School with the Class of 1957. After school, she was employed with Columbia Records, later to become secretary and deputy coroner in the pathology department of Clay County Hospital. As a member of Business and Professional Women, she was past president, was secretary of Bethel 29 Job’s Daughters, and assisted the Staunton Alumni Membership Directory. She became a dispatcher for Underwood, Brazil and Wenco trucking.Her summers consisted of working and cooking for Community Summer Showcase. Her love for cooking and baking cookies and especially fudge continued on with catering for her friends. A group of friends helped her bake 680 dozen cookies for the Rosedale Community Center during the Parke County Covered Bridge Festival. Twelve years ago, she and husband Charles “Chuck” Bennett moved to the Lyford community. They became very active with the Covered Bridge Festival, selling crafts and wooden lawn ornaments, in Billie Creek Village, Parke County Maple Syrup Festival, and the Montezuma area. She was an active member of Covered Bridge Antique Power Association and attended many antique tractor shows. She was sole proprietor of Red Neck Workshop and tirelessly painted many wooden tulips.Her faith took her to Mecca Christian Church and the Emmaus Community, counseling to people both in good and troubled times. Her family and friends will always remember her generosity, love and laughter.Survivors are her husband; children, Kim Bowman and special friend Mark Ritter, Mike Earley and Michelle; grandchildren, Kody and Kasey Bowman, Emily Drew and Lane Dransfield; special aunt, Patty Swearingen; step-children, Patsy Cox, Peggy Fellows, Jay Bennett, and John Bennett; 12 stepgrandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Northside Community Methodist Church, 1075 N. Fruitridge Ave., in Terre Haute, with the Rev. Howard Hughes officiating. Burial will be at Walnut Grove Cemetery in Clinton. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, and one hour prior to the services Friday, both in the church. Frist Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
