Rosemarie Brewster Dickerson

Cincinnati - Rosemarie (Rose) Brewster Dickerson, 92, formerly of Columbus, Ohio, passed away peacefully on December 10, 2025.

Born in Columbus, Ohio, on March 9, 1933, to Lucinda and James Brewster, Rose graduated from South High School in 1951.

On April 4, 1954, she married the love of her life, Earl L. Dickerson, a union that lasted nearly 67 years. Together, they built a beautiful life and welcomed three children: David, Philip, and Liza.

Rose devoted herself to being a homemaker. During those years, she generously gave her time to her community, volunteering with the public library, Columbus Literacy Council, Kidney Foundation, American Cancer Society, Lutheran Social Services, and the local food pantry.

In 1969, the family joined Trinity Lutheran Church, where Rose found a spiritual home. She was active in the women's Bible study, sang in the choir, taught Sunday School, played in the handbell choir, and participated in many other church activities that brought her joy.

To her family and friends, she was lovingly known as Mom, Grandma, Mrs. D, Sister, and Aunt Sis. Her warmth, devotion, and gentle spirit touched all who knew her.

Rose is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Earl L. Dickerson, Jr., and son, David L. Dickerson. She is survived by her son, Philip Brewster Dickerson; daughter, Liza Dickerson-Smitherman (Albert); five grandchildren, Joshua M.C. Smitherman, Justin E.C. Smitherman (Olivia), Jeremy A.C. Smitherman, Jade Elizabeth Smitherman, and Jordan Scott Dickerson; and two great-grandchildren, Justin E.C. Smitherman, Jr. and Jett J.K. Smitherman. She is also survived by extended family members, including Barbara Smitherman and the entire Smitherman family; the "Linner Club" consisting of the 3 Queens and King; many nieces, nephews, other relatives; and a host of cherished friends.

A memorial service honoring Rose will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 404 S. Third Street, Columbus, OH 43215. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church in Columbus, Ohio, or Bellarmine Chapel in Cincinnati, Ohio. A repass will follow the service, where family and friends are invited to gather, share memories, and celebrate Rose's life.
