RoseMarie LaFranca
The matriarch of the Sweeney family was the daughter of Sicilian immigrants, the late Adelaide and Vito LaFranca and predeceased by three siblings, Leonard, Joseph and Virginia; RoseMarie was born on March 15, 1920. She married Edward A. Sweeney, October 21, 1942. They had two sons, Leonard and Edward. She is survived by nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren as well as nieces and nephews and many grand-nieces and nephews who will miss her immensely. RoseMarie was an extremely active individual having been involved in the Order of the Italian Sons and Daughters of America, Regina Elena Lodge, Duquesne University Woman's Auxiliary, Divine Providence Auxuliary, the Brighton Heights Garden Club and the Pittsburgh Opera Society. And in recent years, was the stalwart of the 27th Ward Senior Citizens Center. RoseMarie and her husband, Edward, were proprietors of LaFranca Beer Distributorship on the North Side from 1949-1966. She was then the Director of Volunteer Services for the Easter Seals Society of Allegheny County, retiring in 1982. RoseMarie suffered a heart attack in 1991 and had open heart surgery three years ago. She was recently hospitalized and passed away on Nov. 1, 2004 of heart failure. Friends may call Thurs. 5-9 pm at O'BRIEN'S, 3724 California At Cooper Aves., N.S. Funeral Mass in St. Cyril of Alexandria Church Fri., 10 am. The family requests Contributions be made to the Easter Seal Society in lieu of flowers.

The Sweeney Family

I know that none of you know me I took care of your moms grass for a lot of years and just found out about her passing today when I was at her house doing the last cut. She was truly a super lady and will be missed. I am sorry for your loss and you're family is in my prayers.
