Rosemary Baird Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jan. 12 to Jan. 15, 2023.
Rosemary Baird Augusta - Rosemary "Rosie" Baird passed away on Wednesday, January 11; she was 83 years old. She was the daughter of the late Wade Hampton and Frances Beckum Baird.

Rosie was a former member of St Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Wildwood, Florida, before moving her membership to St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church after moving back to Augusta.

Rosie was born and raised in Augusta, where she attended the Academy of Richmond County. Following High School, she worked for Southern Bell, where she retired in 1983. After retirement, she moved to Florida and sold real estate for the next 30 years. After retiring from real estate, she moved to The Villages in Florida, where she lived until she returned to Augusta to be close to her family due to illness. She was a former member of the Augusta Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution.

Rosie was a ray of sunshine everywhere she went. She never met a stranger and always found the best in everyone she met. Rosie loved her church, and loved life, and lived it to the fullest. She was an avid golfer, tennis, and pickleball player. She played in many golf tournaments to raise money for the Alzheimer's Association. She always found time to help those in need; she volunteered once a week at the food pantry, and in December, she spent her time collecting clothes for the homeless and feeding the hungry for Christmas.

Rosie is survived by her sisters, Wadene Welch (William), Frances Rowell, God Daughter Linda Stankosky Zimmerman and Donna Jean Caldwell her companion, along with many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at Magnolia Cemetery on Monday, January 16, at 11:00 AM, with Father Vernon Knight officiating. A celebration of her life with be held following the service at the home of Scott and Angie Benjamin, 1303 Monte Sano Ave.

In lieu of flowers, the family asked to please consider donating to St Mary On The Hill Catholic Church, Catholic Social Services, Enhabit Hospice or the Alzheimer's Association.

The Family wishes to thank Enhabit Hospice, the dedicated staff on seven south at the Augusta University Medical Center, and her caregivers, Bea Bowls and Barbara Mathis from Caring From the Hearts of Georgia.

Rosie and Donna welcomed us into their homes many times. Rosie led us on our real estate journey in Destin many times and introduced us to joy of owning real estate. We will never forget our adventures together in that and in our many vacations. She had the biggest heart. Although we live in Kentucky, we kept in touch. We will miss her laughter, her honesty and her friendship. Condolences to Donna and Rosie´s immediate circle of friend in Florida. She will be missed, but her legacy of kindness will live on.
