Rosemary Lynn West Dodge, 75, of Claremont, NH, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Penfield, OH, Rosemary's early years took her from Wellington, OH, to Windham, NH, and even to Mexico City, where she attended the American School. This experience stayed with her throughout her life and inspired her to teach her son to respect and learn about cultures. She graduated from Fall Mountain Regional High School in Langdon, NH, in 1971, and pursued her passion for hospitality at Lewis Hotel & Management School in Milwaukee, where she discovered her love of cooking.
Rosemary built a successful career as Section 8 Housing Administrator at Claremont Housing Authority, where she was frequently recognized for her professionalism and compassion. Her kindness and generosity extended far beyond her work - neighbors and friends knew her for the beautiful handmade cards and holiday decorations she lovingly crafted each year. Her home was a testament to her creative spirit, featuring a dedicated craft room and, memorably, a museum-style display of her beloved Barbie collection that delighted visitors of all ages.
A devoted single mother, Rosemary raised her son Carl with unwavering love and determination. Those who knew her would be hard-pressed to say a bad word about her - she was simply one of the kindest, most welcoming people you could meet. Family meant everything to Rosemary, and she maintained close relationships with her extended family, including aunts and cousins, throughout her life.
A lifelong student of Christian Science, Rosemary joined the First Church of Christ Scientist, Boston, in 1964, and maintained memberships in several New Hampshire branch churches. Her faith guided her generous spirit, which extended to numerous charitable causes.
Rosemary was the daughter of Elizabeth Hein West and Thomas Dyson West of Cleveland, OH, and one of eight siblings. She was predeceased by her brothers, Thomas Dyson West, Jr., and John Henry West, and by her sister, Victoria Jean West Donovan.
She is lovingly survived by her son, B. Carl Dodge III and daughter-in-law Ghada Khalaf; her cherished grandchildren Jonathan, Ariana, Nechama, and Jerusalyn Dodge; her siblings Elizabeth (Betsy) West Trottier, David James West, Richard (Dick) Hein West, and Cynthia West Chesak; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Memorial donations may be made to the Chestnut Hill Benevolent Association in Brookline, MA, or the Marion Phillips Tenants' Association in Claremont, NH.
