Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 6, 2013.
Rosie Lee (Rose) Campbell was born on January 3, 1955, the sixth child born to the late Robert & Essie Booth. On March 6, 2013, the angels followed God's call and visited the University Medical Center in Jackson, MS and placed the heavenly ticket in Rose's hand. She joined Sweetwater C.M.E. church at an early age where she remained a member until her death. Rose attended Carver Elementary School and graduated from Bassfield High School in 1972. She furthered her education at Prentiss Institute in Prentiss, MS. There, she met the love of her life Rufus Campbell and they married in June of 1977 and to this union, three children were born. She moved to New Orleans, LA and received her Associates degree from Cameron College in 1983. Rose made New Orleans her home by attending Greater St. Stephens Full Gospel Baptist, as well as Beacon Light International Baptist Cathedral. During her time in New Orleans, she was employed by The Times Picayune, American College, Americo Technical Institute, Congress Woman Lindy Boggs, and she retired after 16 years of service with Sears. She leaves to cherish her devoted husband Rufus Campbell, their three children; Deirdre Campbell, Kenyatta(Danielle) Campbell and Melodie Campbell. Six grandchildren; Aaron Brown, Jarren Campbell, Kaia Mcgee, Kayla Rose Campbell, Kyra Campbell and Janiya Campbell, all of Sumrall, MS. Three sisters: Andell(John) Gibbs, Tallahassee, Fl; Carolyn Booth, Evelyn(Robert) Baker, both of Bassfield, MS. Five brothers: Willie(Anette) Booth, Prentiss, MS; Fred(Myrtle) Booth, Magnolia, MS; James(Helen) Booth, Gulfport, MS; Gromyko(Shaunda) Booth, Bassfield, MS and Rodrigo(Tracie) Booth, Covington, LA; one sister-in-Law Audrey Brumfield, Gary , IN; three brother-in-laws; Charles(Pearline) Campbell, Tylertown, MS; James(Ida) Campbell, New Orleans, LA; Jesse Campbell, Gulfport, MS. Rose also leaves one special aunt Ora Lee Byrd, Jackson, MS and three special cousins; Lola Bass, Anease(Jackie) Stubbs and Sandra Berry, two god-children Courtlan Booth and Kymia Thompson. Five aunts: Gracie Mangum, Arbell Echols, Wilma Thompson, Myrtis Reese, Mary Anna Sims and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents Robert and Essie Booth, two sisters Alice Booth and Beverly Newsome, one brother Herman Echols, one brother-in-law Lee Campbell. The school of life has taught me much. I've learned how to work and play, but this is my Promotion Day!

Thinking about so many great times. Remembering your voice. Missing your laugh, although I laugh just like you. Missing you dearly. Up in heaven with your sisters just partying I know.
