Ross ANGUS Obituary

Published by Ottawa Citizen from Oct. 16 to Oct. 18, 2011.
ANGUS, Ross
Devoted father, wonderful husband,
loyal friend, coach, entrepreneur
Suddenly, Wednesday October 12, 2011 age 48. Loving husband of Donna Gordon. Devoted father of Dylan, Mackenzie and step-son Alex. Beloved son of Danna and late Mac Angus and step-son of Bob Dewan. Dear brother of Beth, Jamie, Angela (Greg McLinton) and Jeff (Maureen) Thoms. Born in Shawville, Quebec and lived in Ottawa. Entered elevator trade at 17 and worked for over 30 years, most recently as a supervisor with Schindler. Founding partner of BODYARMOUR, a company dedicated to providing protective apparel for hockey players and law enforcement. Committed and well respected hockey and football coach for over 25 years. A pillar of the Ottawa Nepean Touch Football League. A loyal Cleveland Browns fan, always looking forward to the annual trip to watch his team. An avid outdoorsman, Ross loved to hunt on his property on Manitoulin Island or spend time with family and friends on his boat in the 1000 Islands. Ross treasured his family and was so proud of his children and their various accomplishments. Ross' son Dylan, a "AA" goaltender with Nepean and a city championship winning football player, his daughter Mackenzie, an accomplished competitive dancer and visual artist, and his step-son Alex, a young and talented football and hockey player in Nepean. Like his smile, Ross was larger than life. He was adored by his family and his friends were proud to walk beside him. Friends may pay respects at the Kelly Funeral Home, 3000 Woodroffe Avenue, Barrhaven Monday from 7 to 9p.m. and Tuesday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Wednesday to Metropolitan Bible Church for Service at 1:00 p.m. In memory, donations can be made to the "Ross Angus Memorial Trust" for the benefit of his children. www.kellyfh.ca .

Dana, I am so sorry to hear about Ross. talked to Dad last night and he told me. I was in shock. My 2nd, 3rd(?) thought was the time we were at Britannia beach and I stepped on a clam shell and cut my foot badly, and how Ross helped me out of the water and 'took care of me'. I have very good memories of time spent with Ross and Beth. I remember last I saw you, when Mom was here, and you were so proud, showing me pictures of his family and your grandchildren, my heart goes out to them. It would be great to hear from you, if you want to call. OOXXOO Karen (613-599-6890)

I had the chance to take a couples trip many years ago with Ross and a few others to his beloved Browns game when they were in the Cleveland Municipal Stadium. Never again will I ever have a chance to see that kind of devotion. It's been many years since we've seen each other but I remember him well and how affected we all were by his passion! I was widowed myself 2 years ago with kids in their teens, I hope your family supports each other through this and I wish you all strong healing in the days ahead. My Sympathy to you all.

To the entire Angus family, especially his children. I knew Ross for six years through a friend here in Toronto/newmarket. Although I didn't see him the past few years other than at a funeral visitation last year, I can tell you without doubt that my heart is still so sad at this incredible tragedy and loss to his family. That smile of his was enough to light a room, his personality and character as solid as everything else about him! He ADORED his children and he once said to me " a day without my children is like a day without breathing". He showed that life is about making every day count but more importantly.. letting those who you love - know it! He was always so kind to us girls in our football league here in Toronto. We loved going to Ottawa because we knew we'd see Ross. Always cheering us on, always wanting to get to know all of us! It's so hard looking at his picture in the papers knowing he'll no longer be here in person. To his children... you MUST celebrate his life - he loved you SO very much and spoke about you all the time.. let him know he's always with you by speaking as loud as he did in his wonderful personality and smile.! My thoughts and prayers to the entire family and all his friends who also have lost someone who was so much fun and just such a down to earth great man! Old friend from Toronto - Cathy Ciccolini
