Rowena Alice Moore Knott

Rowena Alice Moore Knott, 104, of Elizabethtown, formerly of Seymour, was taken home to be with her Lord and family who have gone before her on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2011, at Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility, Columbus.
Mrs. Knott worked at Reliance shirt factory, Seymour Canning Factory and as a homemaker. She was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Seymour. She loved to quilt, research family genealogy and teach piano and violin.
She was always the center of attention at every annual Knott Reunion. One of her favorite things to do at the reunion was to help her grandson, Larry Waggoner, auction off the white elephant gifts that everyone brought.
She loved her family and friends and was generous to all people she knew and met.
Born Nov. 23, 1906, in Watseka, Ill., she was the daughter of Edward Louis Moore and Elizabeth Lucinda Moore. She married Charles Louis Knott Sr. on Aug. 8, 1925, in Watseka, Ill.
Survivors include her children, Shirley J. Walls, Columbus, Donald C. (Vee) Knott, Hattiesburg, Miss., and Janet D. Walls, Elizabethtown; 15 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters, Edna Moore and Dorthea Kamp; brothers, Harold and Donald Moore; a daughter, Sharon E. Cox; a son, Charles L. Knott Jr.; and grandsons, George E. Walls Jr. and Zachary Knott.
Father Clem Davis of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church will conduct funeral services at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home, Columbus. Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery in Seymour, following the service.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. until time of service Wednesday at the funeral home.
